Key Responsibilities of VP, Manufacturing Excellence with an Electronics Co. – Toledo, OH
The VP, Manufacturing Excellence will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Develop and execute a multi-year strategic roadmap for Manufacturing Excellence, aligning initiatives with overall corporate objectives. Serve as the primary thought leader and subject matter expert on all aspects of continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Lean & Continuous Improvement Deployment
Champion the deployment of a robust Lean Operating System across all manufacturing sites. Lead initiatives such as Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work, TPM (Total Productive Maintenance), and SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die) to eliminate waste and improve flow.
Six Sigma & Quality Enhancement
Drive a data-driven culture using Six Sigma methodologies to reduce process variation, improve product quality, and solve complex manufacturing challenges. Oversee projects aimed at improving First Pass Yield (FPY), reducing scrap, and lowering the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
Performance Management & KPIs
Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC). Implement robust daily management systems, visual controls, and tiered accountability processes to drive performance at the shop-floor level.
Technology & Industry 4.0 Integration
Lead the charge in identifying and implementing smart manufacturing technologies. Champion projects related to automation, robotics, IoT, data analytics, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) to create a more connected, intelligent, and agile factory environment.
Talent Development & Culture Building
Build and mentor a world-class Manufacturing Excellence team. Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs to build Lean and Six Sigma capabilities throughout the organization, from the shop floor to senior leadership. Foster a culture where continuous improvement is embedded in the daily work of every employee.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with R&D and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to implement Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles, ensuring seamless and efficient product launches. Collaborate with Supply Chain to optimize material flow, inventory levels, and logistics.
Financial Acumen & Project Management
Develop and manage the departmental budget and capital expenditure requests. Ensure all operational excellence projects have clear business cases, are executed on time and within budget, and deliver a strong return on investment (ROI).
Best Practice Sharing & Standardization
Establish a framework for identifying, documenting, and sharing best practices across all manufacturing locations. Drive standardization of key processes and systems to ensure consistency and repeatability.
Requirements for the VP, Manufacturing Excellence with an Electronics Co. – Toledo, OH
We are seeking a candidate with a distinguished career in manufacturing leadership and a deep passion for operational excellence. The specific qualifications for this role are:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or a related technical field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role (Director, VP) overseeing operational excellence, continuous improvement, or plant operations. Direct experience in the electronics, semiconductor, or a related high-tech assembly industry is strongly required.
Technical Expertise
Master-level knowledge and proven expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies. Certification as a Lean Master, Six Sigma Master Black Belt, or Black Belt is highly desirable. Demonstrated experience in successfully leading large-scale Lean transformations.
Leadership Skills
Exceptional leadership presence with the ability to influence and align stakeholders at all levels, from the executive suite to the factory floor. A proven track record of building, developing, and inspiring high-performing teams. A servant leadership mindset is essential.
Strategic & Analytical Mindset
Strong strategic planning capabilities combined with outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be highly proficient in data analysis and using metrics to drive decisions and achieve results.

Technology Proficiency
Experience with modern manufacturing technologies, including ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and Industry 4.0 concepts.
