Global Supply Chain Strategy & Vision
Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive, long-term global supply chain strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business objectives, growth plans, and commitment to sustainability. Champion initiatives that position the supply chain as a strategic enabler of business success.
End-to-End Operational Excellence
Assume full accountability for the performance of the entire global supply chain, including strategic sourcing, procurement, demand and supply planning, inventory management, internal and external manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, and final-mile distribution. Drive operational excellence through lean methodologies and continuous improvement programs.
Financial Stewardship & P&L Management
Oversee a significant operational budget and manage the supply chain’s P&L. Identify and execute aggressive cost-saving initiatives, optimize working capital, improve inventory turns, and enhance overall network efficiency without compromising quality or service levels.
Digital Transformation & Technology Integration
Lead the charge in identifying, evaluating, and implementing next-generation supply chain technologies. Champion the use of advanced analytics, AI/ML, IoT, and automation to enhance visibility, improve forecasting accuracy, and build a truly predictive and responsive supply chain.
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Relationship Management
Develop and maintain a robust global network of strategic suppliers and partners. Lead complex negotiations, establish performance metrics (KPIs), and foster collaborative relationships to ensure quality, reliability, innovation, and cost-effectiveness.
Risk Management & Supply Chain Resilience
Proactively identify potential risks within the global supply chain (geopolitical, environmental, economic, etc.). Design and implement robust business continuity and risk mitigation strategies to ensure an agile and resilient supply chain capable of withstanding disruption.
Sustainability & ESG Leadership
Integrate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles into every facet of the supply chain. Lead initiatives to reduce carbon footprint, minimize waste, ensure ethical sourcing, and enhance supply chain transparency, contributing to the company’s corporate responsibility goals.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Build, mentor, and lead a world-class global supply chain organization. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Develop talent pipelines and succession plans for critical roles within the organization.
Cross-Functional Executive Collaboration
Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, working closely with counterparts in Sales, Marketing, Finance, R&D, and Operations to ensure seamless integration and alignment. Drive the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to balance demand and supply effectively.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
Uphold the highest standards of product quality, safety, and integrity. Ensure that all supply chain operations adhere to local, national, and international regulations and compliance standards specific to the food and beverage industry.
Requirements for the Chief Supply Chain Officer with a Global Food & Beverage Co. – Minneapolis, MN
Executive Experience
A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive leadership experience in supply chain management, with at least 7 years in a senior executive role (e.g., VP, SVP, or CSCO) with global oversight for a large, complex organization.
Industry Expertise
Deep and demonstrable experience within the Food & Beverage, Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), or a related fast-moving industry is mandatory. A thorough understanding of cold chain logistics, food safety regulations, and commodity sourcing is critical.
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Proven Transformational Leadership
A track record of successfully leading large-scale supply chain transformation initiatives, resulting in measurable improvements in cost, service, and efficiency. Experience leading through M&A integration is a plus.
Technical & Analytical Acumen
Expertise in modern supply chain principles and systems, including advanced planning systems, ERP (SAP/Oracle), WMS/TMS, and data analytics platforms. Must possess a data-driven mindset with the ability to translate complex data into actionable strategic insights.
Global Mindset
Extensive experience managing international supply chains, including navigating complex trade agreements, tariffs, customs regulations, and global logistics challenges across multiple continents.
