Global Procurement Strategy Development
Architect and implement a comprehensive, multi-year global procurement strategy that aligns with corporate objectives for growth, profitability, and innovation. This involves deep market intelligence, category management excellence, and the creation of a resilient and agile supply base.
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for all direct materials, including semiconductors, passive components, PCBs, custom mechanics, and other critical electronic parts. Develop and execute sophisticated category strategies to optimize cost, ensure supply continuity, and foster innovation.
Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
Cultivate and manage robust, long-term strategic partnerships with key global suppliers. Implement a formal SRM program, including performance scorecards, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and joint development initiatives to drive continuous improvement and collaborative innovation.
Cost Optimization & Value Creation
Drive a culture of aggressive and sustainable cost management. Go beyond simple price reduction to implement Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models, value engineering (VA/VE) projects with suppliers, and should-cost analysis to deliver significant, measurable savings to the bottom line.
Supply Chain Risk Mitigation
Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks across the global supply chain. Develop and deploy sophisticated risk management strategies, including dual-sourcing, geopolitical monitoring, supplier financial health assessments, and robust business continuity plans (BCP) to protect the company from disruptions.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global procurement organization. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous learning. Attract and retain top talent to build a best-in-class team.
Digital Transformation & Technology
Champion the adoption and optimization of procurement technologies, including ERP systems (SAP/Oracle), e-sourcing platforms, spend analytics tools, and contract lifecycle management (CLM) software. Leverage data analytics and automation to enhance efficiency and strategic insights.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as a key business partner to other executive leaders. Collaborate closely with Engineering and R&D on New Product Introduction (NPI) to ensure early supplier involvement, with Manufacturing to guarantee material availability and quality, and with Finance to manage budgets and working capital effectively.
Contract Negotiation & Management
Oversee the negotiation of complex, high-value supplier agreements, master service agreements (MSAs), and statements of work (SOWs). Ensure that all contracts are commercially favorable, legally sound, and effectively mitigate risk for the organization.
Sustainability & Ethical Sourcing (ESG)
Develop and champion a sustainable and ethical procurement program. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements (e.g., conflict minerals) and drive initiatives that enhance the company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) profile. This includes promoting responsible sourcing practices that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for responsible consumption and production.
Requirements for the Chief Procurement Officer with an Electronics Manufacturer – Cleveland, OH
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.
Executive Experience
A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in procurement and global supply chain management, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Vice President of Procurement, Head of Global Sourcing) with significant team and budget responsibility.
Industry Expertise
