Key Responsibilities of Chief People Officer with a Healthcare Tech Firm – Baltimore, MD

The Chief People Officer will have a broad mandate to lead all aspects of the human resources function. Your responsibilities will be dynamic and will evolve with the company’s growth, but the core duties include:

Strategic HR Leadership & Executive Partnership

  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor and coach to the CEO and the executive team on all human capital matters, including organizational design, workforce planning, and leadership development.
  • Develop and implement a forward-thinking, data-driven people strategy that supports long-term business goals and anticipates future needs.
  • Translate business objectives into tangible HR initiatives that drive employee performance, engagement, and retention.

Talent Acquisition & Management

  • Oversee the entire talent acquisition lifecycle, building a best-in-class recruiting function capable of attracting top-tier talent in a competitive market.
  • Develop and implement sophisticated sourcing strategies to build robust pipelines for critical roles across technology, product, sales, and clinical operations.
  • Evolve the company’s performance management philosophy, implementing systems and processes that foster continuous feedback, career growth, and high performance.
  • Design and lead comprehensive talent management and succession planning programs to develop and retain key leaders.

Culture, Engagement & Employee Experience

  • Act as the primary champion and cultivator of the company’s unique, mission-driven culture.
  • Design and execute innovative programs to enhance employee engagement, morale, and connection to the company’s mission.
  • Leverage employee feedback, surveys, and HR analytics to identify trends and implement targeted initiatives to create an exceptional employee experience from onboarding to offboarding.

Total Rewards & Compensation

  • Architect and manage a competitive and equitable total rewards strategy, including compensation philosophy, salary structures, bonus plans, and equity programs.

HR Operations, Technology & Compliance

  • Lead the HR operations team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of all HR services.
  • Oversee the optimization and management of HR technology stack (HRIS, ATS, etc.) to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, particularly those relevant to the healthcare industry.

Requirements for the Chief People Officer with a Healthcare Tech Firm – Baltimore, MD

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, strategic, and empathetic leader with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing HR functions in dynamic, high-growth environments.

Professional Experience

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership capacity (e.g., VP of HR, SVP of People, CPO).
  • Demonstrable experience in a fast-paced, high-growth organization, preferably within the technology, SaaS, or healthcare technology sectors.
  • Proven success in scaling a company’s people function and culture, ideally through stages of significant headcount growth (e.g., from 200 to 1000+ employees).
  • Experience working with a sophisticated executive team and board of directors. Public company experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with M&A, including due diligence and post-merger integration, is a significant asset.

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field is required.
  • An advanced degree such as an MBA or a Master’s in Human Resources or Organizational Development is strongly preferred.
