The CFO will have a broad range of responsibilities, acting as the financial conscience of the organization and a key driver of business performance. Key duties include:

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Board on all financial matters. Actively participate in shaping the company’s strategy, providing financial insights and analysis to support major business decisions, pricing strategies, and capital investments. Translate strategy into actionable financial plans.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Lead the development of the annual budget, multi-year strategic plans, and rolling forecasts. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

Capital Structure & Treasury Management

Manage the company’s capital structure, including all debt facilities and lender relationships. Ensure compliance with all debt covenants. Oversee cash management, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization to support operational needs and growth initiatives.

Accounting, Controls & Reporting

Oversee all accounting operations including A/R, A/P, GL, Cost Accounting, and Revenue Recognition. Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP. Design, implement, and maintain a robust internal control environment.

Investor & Board Relations

Prepare and present comprehensive financial reporting packages for the Board of Directors and the private equity sponsor. Serve as a primary financial liaison to investors, effectively communicating the company’s financial performance, strategy, and outlook.

Team Leadership & Development

Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Structure the team to effectively support the company’s scaling operations.

Systems & Process Improvement

Drive the selection, implementation, and enhancement of financial systems (ERP, BI tools) to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities. Continuously seek to automate and streamline financial processes across the organization.

Risk Management & Compliance

Oversee the company’s risk management framework, including insurance programs. Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax and regulatory requirements. Manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.

The successful candidate will be a seasoned and sophisticated finance leader with a demonstrated history of success in high-growth, leveraged environments. Specific qualifications include:

Experience

A minimum of 15 years of progressive financial experience, with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role (CFO, VP of Finance, or Controller) with broad oversight.

Private Equity Experience

Non-negotiable requirement. Must have significant experience as the #1 or #2 finance executive in a private equity-backed portfolio company. A deep understanding of the PE playbook, reporting requirements, and exit-oriented mindset is essential.

Industry Background

Experience in the logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a related asset-intensive, service-based industry is strongly preferred.

M&A Expertise

Proven, hands-on experience leading financial due diligence and post-acquisition integration for multiple transactions.

Technical Acumen

Strong command of US GAAP, financial modeling, FP&A, and debt management. Experience with complex capital structures and managing lender relationships is critical.

Education
