Key Responsibilities of VP, Corporate Development, Venture Capital with a Public Tech Firm – Seattle, WA
The VP, Corporate Development and Venture Capital will have a broad and impactful mandate. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
M&A Strategy and Execution
Develop and execute a comprehensive M&A strategy that aligns with the company’s long-term corporate vision. Lead the end-to-end deal process, including target identification, strategic and financial analysis, valuation, due diligence, negotiation of terms, and definitive documentation.
Venture Capital Leadership
Oversee the company’s corporate venture capital (CVC) arm. Develop investment theses in emerging technology areas, source proprietary deal flow, lead investment decisions, and manage the portfolio of early-stage companies to foster innovation and generate strategic returns.
Strategic Partnership Development
Identify, evaluate, and cultivate strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and other alliances that complement the company’s core business and open new avenues for growth.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work intimately with executive leadership, product management, engineering, legal, finance, and other internal teams to build consensus, ensure seamless deal execution, and plan for successful integration.
Market and Competitive Intelligence
Serve as the company’s foremost expert on the competitive landscape, market dynamics, and emerging technology trends. Provide actionable insights and recommendations to the executive team and Board of Directors.
Rigorous Due Diligence Management
Quarterback exhaustive due diligence efforts, coordinating internal teams and external advisors (investment banks, law firms, consulting firms) to thoroughly assess all facets of a potential transaction, including technology, finance, legal, and operations.
Post-Merger Integration (PMI) Oversight
Partner closely with a dedicated integration management office to ensure that the strategic rationale and financial objectives of each acquisition are realized. A critical factor for achieving long-term value is a focus on successful post-merger integration and value capture.
Team Leadership and Mentorship
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of high-caliber corporate development and venture investment professionals. Foster a culture of excellence, intellectual curiosity, and rigorous analysis.
Executive and Board Communication
Prepare and present clear, concise, and compelling investment theses, transaction summaries, and strategic recommendations to the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors.

We are seeking a candidate with a distinguished track record and a deep passion for technology and strategic growth. The qualifications for this role are stringent and reflect its seniority and impact.
Experience
A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in corporate development, venture capital, investment banking, or private equity, with a strong emphasis on the technology sector. Significant experience operating within a publicly-traded technology company is strongly preferred.
Education
An MBA from a top-tier business school or an equivalent advanced degree in finance or a related field is highly required.
Proven Deal Sheet
A demonstrable and extensive track record of successfully leading all aspects of complex M&A transactions and venture investments from start to finish. Experience with a variety of deal structures and sizes is essential.
Financial Mastery
Expert-level proficiency in financial modeling, valuation methodologies (DCF, public/private comps, LBO), deal structuring, and transaction accounting.
Strategic Acumen
The ability to think strategically at a high level, connecting disparate market trends to tangible business opportunities. Must be able to translate broad corporate strategy into a concrete, actionable M&A and investment roadmap.
Leadership and Influence
Exceptional leadership presence and communication skills. The ability to articulate complex ideas simply and persuasively, build strong relationships, and influence key stakeholders across all levels of a global organization.
Industry Expertise
Deep knowledge of the software, cloud computing, AI/ML, cybersecurity, or related technology ecosystems. Must have a strong network within the tech, banking, and venture capital communities.
Negotiation Skills

Location
