Key Responsibilities of CISO with a Global Technology Services Firm – Salt Lake City, UT
The Chief Information Security Officer will have a broad and challenging mandate, encompassing all aspects of information security strategy, execution, and governance. Your core responsibilities will include:
Strategic Leadership & Program Development
Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive, strategic, and risk-based enterprise information security and risk management program. This program must align with business objectives and ensure that information assets and associated technology, applications, systems, infrastructure, and processes are adequately protected.
- Define and articulate the vision and strategy for the cybersecurity program, securing executive buy-in and resources.
- Establish annual and long-range security and compliance goals, define security strategies, metrics, and reporting mechanisms.
- Lead the information security steering committee and serve as a key advisor to the executive team and board of directors.
Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)
Establish and maintain a robust GRC framework to ensure the organization meets its legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations. This includes managing risk assessments, policy development, and compliance with international standards.
- Lead the development and implementation of a corporate-wide security governance model.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of security policies, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, SOX, and industry standards like the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, and PCI DSS.
- Direct and manage comprehensive risk assessments and business impact analyses to identify and mitigate potential security vulnerabilities.
Security Operations & Incident Response
Provide leadership and oversight for the Security Operations Center (SOC) and the firm’s incident response capabilities. Ensure the organization is prepared to detect, respond to, and recover from cybersecurity incidents swiftly and effectively.
- Mature the organization’s threat intelligence, vulnerability management, and security monitoring capabilities.
- Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive incident response plan, including regular tabletop exercises and post-mortem analyses.
- Oversee forensic investigations and coordinate with legal, HR, and law enforcement as necessary during security incidents.
Security Architecture & Engineering
Partner with IT, engineering, and product development teams to embed security into the fabric of the company’s technology stack. Champion a ‘security by design’ and DevSecOps culture to ensure that new products and systems are secure from their inception.
- Define the security architecture roadmap and oversee the implementation of security solutions for cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), networks, and endpoints.
- Lead the strategy for data loss prevention (DLP), encryption, and identity and access management (IAM).
- Evaluate and deploy new security technologies to enhance the company’s defensive posture.
Team Leadership & Financial Management
Build, mentor, and lead a world-class team of cybersecurity professionals. Develop and manage the information security budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to address the most significant risks.

We are seeking an exceptional candidate who meets the following qualifications:
Executive Experience
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the information security field, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership capacity (e.g., CISO, VP of Security, Senior Director) within a large, global, and technologically complex organization. Experience in the technology services, SaaS, or managed services industry is highly preferred.
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree (MBA or MS) is strongly preferred.
Professional Certifications
Advanced security certifications are highly desirable. These may include, but are not limited to, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or other relevant credentials.
