As the CFO, you will be the cornerstone of the executive leadership team, responsible for the entire financial infrastructure of the company. Key Responsibilities of CFO, Portfolio Company with a Technology Services Firm – Dallas, TX

The Chief Financial Officer will have a broad range of responsibilities, encompassing strategic leadership, financial operations, and stakeholder management. Success in this role will be measured by your ability to build a best-in-class finance function that serves as a true business partner across the organization.

Strategic Financial Leadership

Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to develop and execute the company’s long-range strategic plan. Develop robust financial models to support strategic initiatives, including new market entry, product launches, and pricing strategies. Provide data-driven recommendations to optimize financial performance and enhance enterprise value.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes. Develop and maintain a sophisticated suite of KPIs and performance dashboards to provide real-time insights into business drivers, trends, and risks. Prepare comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for the executive team, Board of Directors, and private equity sponsors.

Accounting, Control, and Reporting

Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring the integrity and timeliness of financial reporting. Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes. Ensure compliance with GAAP and all relevant regulations, including mastery of complex topics like the ASC 606 revenue recognition standards. Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors and manage the annual audit process. Implement and maintain a robust system of internal controls.

Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

Play a leading role in the company’s inorganic growth strategy. Lead financial due diligence on potential acquisition targets. Develop valuation models and participate in negotiations. Oversee the successful financial integration of acquired companies, including systems, processes, and personnel.

Treasury and Cash Management

Manage the company’s liquidity and capital resources effectively. Oversee cash flow forecasting and working capital management. Manage banking relationships and ensure compliance with all debt covenants. Evaluate and implement optimal capital structure strategies.

Investor and Board Relations

Serve as a key liaison to the private equity sponsors and Board of Directors. Prepare and deliver clear, concise, and insightful presentations on financial performance, forecasts, and strategic initiatives. Build credibility and foster strong relationships with all stakeholders.

Team Leadership and Development

Recruit, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development. Structure the team to effectively support the company’s growth trajectory.

Systems and Process Improvement

Drive the selection, implementation, and optimization of financial systems (ERP, BI tools, etc.) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and reporting capabilities. Continuously identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve scalability.

Requirements for the CFO, Portfolio Company with a Technology Services Firm – Dallas, TX

We are seeking a candidate with a distinguished track record of financial leadership and a demonstrated ability to drive growth and profitability. The specific qualifications and attributes we are looking for include:

Educational Background

A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. A CPA designation and/or an MBA from a top-tier institution is highly preferred.

Professional Experience

A minimum of 15 years of progressive financial experience, with at least 5 years serving as a CFO, VP of Finance, or a similar senior leadership role.

Private Equity Experience

Prior experience as a senior financial leader within a private equity-backed company is strongly preferred. A deep understanding of the PE lifecycle, including reporting requirements, value creation levers, and exit strategies, is critical.

Industry Expertise

Significant experience in the technology services, professional services, B2B software (SaaS), or a related industry is required. Experience with project-based revenue, recurring revenue models, and professional services automation (PSA) tools is highly advantageous.

M&A Proficiency

Proven, hands-on experience leading the financial aspects of the M&A process, from due diligence through post-acquisition integration. Must be able to demonstrate a track record of successfully integrating acquired businesses.

Technical Skills

Expert-level knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial modeling, and FP&A. Strong systems acumen, with experience overseeing the implementation and management of sophisticated ERP and BI platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Oracle, Salesforce, Power BI).

Leadership Qualities

A strategic thinker with a ‘roll-up-your-sleeves’ mentality. Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiences.
