As a Principal, you will be an integral part of the senior investment team, responsible for the entire investment lifecycle. This includes originating proprietary deal flow, leading comprehensive due diligence processes, structuring and negotiating complex transactions, and actively working with portfolio company management teams to accelerate growth and create long-term value.

You will be expected to leverage your extensive network and industry expertise to identify unique investment opportunities in key sectors such as technology, healthcare, software (SaaS), and tech-enabled services. Key Responsibilities of Principal, Growth Equity with an established PE Firm – Greenwich, CT

Investment Sourcing and Origination

Proactively identify and source proprietary investment opportunities through your extensive network of industry contacts, entrepreneurs, investment bankers, and other intermediaries. Develop and execute a thematic sourcing strategy to target attractive sub-sectors and companies that align with the firm’s investment thesis.

Due Diligence and Execution Leadership

Lead all aspects of the due diligence process for potential investments. This includes managing cross-functional teams to conduct thorough financial, commercial, legal, and operational analysis. You will be responsible for building and overseeing the creation of complex financial modeling and valuation techniques to support investment decisions.

Transaction Structuring and Negotiation

Spearhead the structuring and negotiation of investment terms, including valuation, governance, and capital structure. You will be responsible for drafting and negotiating term sheets, letters of intent, and definitive legal documentation in collaboration with legal and financial advisors.

Investment Committee Presentation

Develop and articulate compelling investment theses and prepare detailed investment memorandums. You will be responsible for presenting investment recommendations with conviction to the firm’s Investment Committee, defending your analysis and strategic rationale.

Portfolio Company Management and Value Creation

Actively engage with portfolio companies post-investment. This often includes taking a board seat and working closely with senior management teams to develop and execute strategic initiatives. Key areas of focus will include driving revenue growth, improving operational efficiency, identifying M&A opportunities, and preparing companies for successful exits.

Team Leadership and Mentorship

Play a crucial role in the development and mentorship of junior investment professionals, including Vice Presidents, Associates, and Analysts. Provide guidance, training, and constructive feedback to foster a culture of excellence and continuous learning within the team.

Firm Building and Networking

Represent the firm at industry conferences, networking events, and in the broader investment community. Contribute to the firm’s strategic initiatives, including fundraising efforts, limited partner relations, and enhancing the firm’s brand and reputation in the market.

Requirements for the Principal, Growth Equity with an established PE Firm – Greenwich, CT

Experience

A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant professional experience, with a significant portion spent in growth equity, private equity, or a related field such as venture capital or technology-focused investment banking. The ideal candidate will currently be at the Vice President or Principal level.

Track Record

A demonstrable and successful track record of leading the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and executing deals to managing portfolio companies and achieving successful exits. Experience serving on company boards is highly desirable.

Educational Background

An MBA from a top-tier business school is strongly preferred. An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, engineering, or a related field from a leading university is required.

Analytical and Financial Skills
