Key Responsibilities of Plant Manager (Automotive) – Greenville, SC

Strategic Leadership & Operational Management

Provide comprehensive leadership and strategic direction for all plant operations, including production, materials, engineering, quality, maintenance, and human resources. Develop and execute operational plans that align with the company’s overall business objectives and growth strategies.

P&L Responsibility & Financial Management

Full ownership of the plant’s profit and loss (P&L) statement. Develop, manage, and adhere to operational budgets, identifying and implementing cost reduction initiatives, and driving financial performance to achieve profitability targets. Analyze financial data to make informed decisions and optimize resource allocation.

Production & Efficiency Optimization

Oversee all production activities to ensure efficient manufacturing processes, optimal utilization of resources, and timely delivery of high-quality automotive components. Implement and champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to eliminate waste, improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and enhance productivity.

Quality Assurance & Compliance

Requirements for the Plant Manager (Automotive) – Greenville, SC

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical), Operations Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited institution is required. A Master’s degree (MBA or relevant advanced degree) is highly preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience in high-volume automotive manufacturing environments is essential. This must include at least 5-7 years of direct experience as a Plant Manager or a similar senior-level operational leadership role with full P&L responsibility for a significant manufacturing facility.

Automotive Industry Expertise

Deep and comprehensive understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, quality systems (e.g., IATF 16949), and industry-specific regulations and customer requirements. Experience with various automotive components or systems (e.g., stamping, injection molding, assembly, powertrain, interiors) is highly advantageous.

Lean & Continuous Improvement Proficiency

Demonstrated expertise in implementing and sustaining Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., Kaizen, 5S, Value Stream Mapping, SMED), Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred), and other continuous improvement tools. Proven ability to drive significant operational efficiencies and cost reductions.
