Key Responsibilities of Plant Manager (Aerospace Mfg) – Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
Strategic Leadership & Operational Management
Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive operational strategies to ensure the plant meets or exceeds production goals, quality standards, and delivery schedules. Translate corporate objectives into actionable plant-level strategies and KPIs.
P&L and Financial Management
Full ownership of the plant’s profit and loss (P&L) statement. Develop and manage operational budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for revenue enhancement and efficiency gains. Drive financial performance through effective resource allocation and cost-saving initiatives.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
Champion and enforce rigorous quality standards in accordance with AS9100 quality management systems and other relevant aerospace industry certifications (e.g., NADCAP, ISO). Ensure strict adherence to all FAA, DoD, OSHA, and environmental regulations. Lead continuous improvement efforts in quality control and assurance processes.
Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement
Spearhead the implementation and sustainment of Lean Manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping) and Six Sigma methodologies across all plant operations. Foster a culture of continuous improvement, waste reduction, and operational efficiency.
Team Leadership & Development
Recruit, train, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of production managers, supervisors, and skilled operators. Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging work environment that encourages professional growth and empowers employees.
Production Planning & Control
Oversee production planning, scheduling, and inventory management to optimize material flow, minimize lead times, and ensure on-time delivery. Implement robust production control systems (e.g., ERP/MRP) to monitor and adjust production as needed.
Supply Chain & Logistics
Collaborate closely with supply chain management to ensure timely procurement of materials, optimize inventory levels, and manage supplier relationships effectively. Oversee inbound and outbound logistics for efficient material handling.
Safety & Environmental Stewardship
Maintain an exemplary safety record by implementing and enforcing robust safety programs and procedures. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations and promote sustainable manufacturing practices.
Equipment & Facilities Management
Oversee the maintenance and upgrade of plant machinery, equipment, and facilities to ensure optimal operational efficiency, reliability, and longevity. Plan for capital expenditures related to new equipment and infrastructure improvements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work effectively with engineering, sales, human resources, and other corporate functions to achieve overall business objectives. Represent the plant in corporate meetings and strategic planning sessions.
Requirements for the Plant Manager (Aerospace Mfg) – Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial), Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related technical field is required. A Master’s degree (MBA or MS) is highly preferred and will be a significant advantage.
Experience
A minimum of 10-15 years of progressive leadership experience within the aerospace manufacturing industry, with at least 5-7 years in a Plant Manager, General Manager, or senior operational leadership role overseeing a significant manufacturing facility.
Aerospace Industry Acumen
Deep understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and specific industry challenges. Proven experience with high-precision machining, assembly, composites, or related aerospace production technologies.
Quality Systems Expertise
Extensive practical experience and in-depth knowledge of AS9100 quality management systems. Certifications related to quality auditing or management are a plus.
Lean & Six Sigma Proficiency

P&L Management
