The VP of Global Supply Chain will be the principal architect of a resilient, agile, and cost-effective supply chain network. You will assume full ownership of global operations encompassing strategic sourcing, procurement, demand and supply planning (S&OP), inventory management, logistics, warehousing, and trade compliance. Key Responsibilities of VP, Global Supply Chain with an Electronics Manufacturer – San Jose, CA

Strategic Leadership & Vision

Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive global supply chain strategy that aligns with and supports the company’s overall business objectives, growth plans, and customer expectations. Champion supply chain initiatives at the executive level.

End-to-End Supply Chain Management

Direct all facets of the supply chain, including strategic sourcing, procurement of electronic components and raw materials, production planning, inventory control, logistics, and global distribution to ensure operational efficiency and excellence.

Global Sourcing & Procurement

Lead the global procurement team to develop and manage a robust supplier ecosystem. Oversee complex negotiations, establish strategic partnerships with key suppliers, and implement rigorous supplier performance management programs (QBRs, scorecards).

Risk Mitigation & Resiliency

Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks within the supply chain, including geopolitical instability, supplier dependencies, component shortages, and logistical disruptions. Develop and implement business continuity plans to ensure supply integrity.

Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

Spearhead the S&OP process, collaborating closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Product Development to create a consensus-based demand forecast and a synchronized supply plan that optimizes resources and meets customer demand.

Inventory Optimization

Design and implement advanced inventory management strategies to optimize inventory levels across the global network, minimize excess and obsolete (E&O) stock, and improve working capital and cash flow.

Logistics & Trade Compliance

Oversee the global logistics network, including transportation, warehousing, and distribution. Ensure full compliance with all international trade regulations, customs requirements, and import/export laws. Drive initiatives to reduce freight costs and improve delivery performance.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing, global supply chain organization. Cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and development plans for the team.

Technology & Digital Transformation

Drive the evaluation and implementation of new technologies, systems, and tools (e.g., advanced planning systems, ERP enhancements, analytics platforms) to enhance visibility, improve data accuracy, and automate processes across the supply chain.

Financial Acumen & Budget Management

Develop and manage the annual supply chain budget, including operational expenses and capital expenditures. Identify and execute cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or service levels. Report on key financial and operational metrics to the executive team.

Quality & Continuous Improvement

Partner with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that all suppliers and internal processes meet stringent quality standards. Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence throughout the supply chain.

Requirements for the VP, Global Supply Chain with an Electronics Manufacturer – San Jose, CA

Educational Background

A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.

Executive Experience

A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in supply chain management, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership capacity (e.g., VP, Senior Director) overseeing a global supply chain function.

Industry Expertise

Deep and demonstrable experience within the electronics manufacturing, semiconductor, or a related high-technology industry is mandatory. Must possess a strong understanding of the electronic components market, contract manufacturing, and the unique challenges of a high-mix, high-tech supply chain.

Technical Proficiency

Expert-level knowledge of all core supply chain disciplines. Extensive experience with sophisticated ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced planning systems (APS).

Strategic Mindset

Proven ability to think strategically, anticipate future trends, and translate business goals into actionable supply chain strategies and initiatives.

Leadership & Influence

Analytical & Data-Driven

Extensive experience managing international supply chains, particularly with operations and suppliers in Asia, Europe, and North America. In-depth knowledge of global trade compliance and logistics.

Demonstrated expertise in modern supply chain management best practices and digital transformation. Professional certifications such as CSCP or CPIM from ASCM/APICS are highly desirable.
