As the Partner for Cybersecurity & Risk, you will be the face of the practice in the DC region, a hub for both major federal agencies and a thriving commercial sector. You will be entrusted with setting the strategic direction, driving revenue growth, and expanding the firm’s brand eminence. This role requires a deep understanding of the complex cyber threat landscape and the ability to translate that knowledge into actionable, C-suite level strategies for clients. Key Responsibilities of Partner, Cybersecurity & Risk with a Consulting Firm – Washington, DC

The Partner will have broad responsibilities spanning practice leadership, business development, client delivery, and talent management. Success will be measured by practice growth, client satisfaction, and team development.

Strategic Leadership & Practice Growth

Develop and execute a comprehensive go-to-market strategy for the Cybersecurity & Risk practice in the Washington, DC market. Assume full P&L responsibility, including revenue forecasting, resource management, and profitability. Drive brand eminence through thought leadership, industry event participation, and strategic partnerships.

Business Development & Sales Origination

Proactively originate and lead sales pursuits for large-scale, complex cybersecurity transformation and risk advisory projects. Build and manage a robust sales pipeline, consistently meeting and exceeding multi-million dollar annual sales targets. Cultivate and maintain a strong network of C-level relationships across commercial and public sectors. Lead the development of compelling proposals, statements of work (SOWs), and client presentations.

Client Engagement & Delivery Excellence

Serve as the primary executive sponsor and trusted advisor for key client accounts. Provide ultimate oversight and accountability for the quality and successful delivery of all engagements within the practice. Ensure client satisfaction and manage engagement risk, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues. Advise clients on a wide array of topics, including security strategy, governance, incident response, cloud security, and data privacy.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

Attract, recruit, and retain top-tier cybersecurity talent. Build and mentor a world-class team of Directors, Managers, and Consultants, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance culture. Champion the professional development of team members through coaching, mentorship, and identifying growth opportunities.

Thought Leadership & Subject Matter Expertise

Serve as a preeminent subject matter expert within the firm and the broader industry. Provide expert guidance on complex frameworks and regulations. Author white papers, publish articles, and speak at prominent industry conferences. Drive innovation by developing new service offerings, methodologies, and intellectual property that address emerging threats and technologies, leveraging standards like the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.

Requirements for the Partner, Cybersecurity & Risk with a Consulting Firm – Washington, DC

This senior role demands a combination of deep technical expertise, exceptional business acumen, and proven leadership capabilities. We are seeking a candidate who has built a distinguished career in professional services and is ready for a capstone leadership opportunity.

Professional Experience

A minimum of 15-20 years of experience in cybersecurity, risk management, or a related technology field. At least 8-10 of these years must be in a leadership role within a reputable consulting or professional services firm (e.g., Big Four, strategy consulting, or a major system integrator).

Proven Sales & Delivery Record

A verifiable track record of successfully originating, selling, and overseeing the delivery of multi-million dollar cybersecurity and risk consulting engagements. Demonstrable experience managing a practice P&L and driving year-over-year growth.

Deep Domain Expertise

Comprehensive knowledge across multiple cybersecurity and risk domains, including but not limited to: Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC), Zero Trust architecture, cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), data privacy and protection (GDPR, CCPA), threat intelligence, security operations (SecOps), incident response, and OT/ICS security.

Executive Presence & Communication

Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. The ability to build rapport and credibility with C-suite executives and Board members is essential. Must be able to articulate complex technical concepts in clear, concise business terms.

Leadership & Mentorship

Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and inspire large, diverse teams. A passion for mentoring and developing talent and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment. An entrepreneurial spirit with a hands-on, ‘roll-up-your-sleeves’ attitude is critical.

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or MBA is highly preferred. Prestigious industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CGEIT, or CRISC are strongly desired.

Location & Travel

Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Washington, DC metropolitan area. The role will require moderate travel to client sites and industry events as needed. Eligibility for a U.S. security clearance is a significant advantage.
