Role Overview for Head of Talent Acquisition with a Growing Tech Company – Austin, TX

As the Head of Talent Acquisition, you will be the chief architect and strategist for all aspects of recruiting and hiring. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and leading a sophisticated talent acquisition function capable of attracting and retaining top-tier talent across all departments, including engineering, product, sales, marketing, and operations. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, you will own the entire recruitment lifecycle, from strategic workforce planning and employer branding to sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding.

Strategic Leadership & Workforce Planning

Develop and execute a comprehensive, global talent acquisition strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives and long-term vision. Partner closely with the C-suite and department heads to forecast hiring needs, identify critical talent gaps, and build a proactive workforce plan that supports rapid scaling.

Team Leadership & Development

Build, lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team of recruiters, sourcers, and coordinators. Establish clear performance goals and KPIs, provide regular coaching and feedback, and create career development pathways to foster team growth and retention. Process Optimization & Scalability

Employer Branding & Candidate Experience

In partnership with the Marketing team, develop and champion a compelling employer value proposition (EVP). Create and execute strategies to enhance the company’s employer brand across multiple channels (e.g., social media, career sites, industry events) to attract top talent. Own the end-to-end candidate experience, ensuring every applicant is treated with respect and professionalism.

Sourcing & Pipeline Development

Architect and implement innovative, multi-channel sourcing strategies to build robust and diverse talent pipelines for current and future roles. Go beyond traditional methods to identify and engage passive candidates, particularly for highly competitive technical and leadership positions.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Be a passionate advocate for DEI, embedding inclusive principles into every stage of the hiring process. Develop and execute strategies to attract, engage, and hire a diverse workforce. Utilize data to track progress, identify biases, and ensure equitable hiring practices across the organization.

Data, Analytics & Reporting

Establish a data-driven recruiting culture. Define, track, and analyze key performance metrics (e.g., time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, source effectiveness, quality of hire, offer acceptance rate). Provide regular, insightful reports to the executive team to inform strategic decisions and demonstrate the ROI of the talent function. Implement best practices for strategic talent acquisition to ensure long-term success.

Requirements for the Head of Talent Acquisition with a Growing Tech Company – Austin, TX

Experience

A minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity managing a full-cycle recruiting team. Verifiable track record of success within a high-growth technology, SaaS, or startup environment is essential. Experience scaling a company through significant headcount growth (e.g., from 100 to 500+ employees) is highly desirable.

A data-driven decision-maker who is proficient in using recruiting analytics and metrics to drive strategy, influence stakeholders, and measure success. You are an expert in leveraging an ATS (e.g., Greenhouse, Lever, Workday) to its full potential.

Exceptional Communication Skills

Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate a compelling vision and influence stakeholders at all levels, from individual contributors to the Board of Directors.

Education
