Key Responsibilities of Chief Technology Officer with a Global Logistics Firm – Atlanta, GA
Strategic Technology Leadership & Vision
Develop and communicate a clear, compelling technology vision and long-term strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business objectives. Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive technology roadmap, anticipating future industry trends and competitive threats.
Innovation and R&D
Champion innovation by identifying, evaluating, and implementing emerging technologies (AI/ML, IoT, blockchain, automation) to create new services, improve efficiencies, and establish a significant competitive advantage in the global logistics market.
Enterprise Architecture & Infrastructure Management
Oversee the design, development, and management of the company’s entire technology infrastructure, including cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), data centers, network architecture, and enterprise systems. Ensure the infrastructure is scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective.
Software Engineering & Product Development
Lead the global software engineering teams in the development of proprietary and customer-facing platforms, including Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and data analytics tools. Implement best practices in agile development, DevOps, and quality assurance.
Data Strategy, Analytics, and Business Intelligence
Architect and execute a comprehensive data strategy that leverages data as a strategic asset. Cybersecurity & Risk Management
Establish and maintain a robust, enterprise-wide cybersecurity program to protect company and client data, systems, and assets. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards (e.g., GDPR, C-TPAT) and oversee disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Build, mentor, and lead a world-class, globally distributed technology organization. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning. Attract and retain top-tier technology talent.
Financial & Vendor Management
Develop and manage the annual technology budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and a strong return on investment. Lead technology procurement, negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers, and manage key strategic partnerships.
Executive Collaboration & Communication
Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and the board of directors on all technology-related matters. Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and articulate the business value of technology initiatives.
Requirements for the Chief Technology Officer with a Global Logistics Firm – Atlanta, GA
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or an MBA is highly preferred.
Executive Experience
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in technology leadership roles, with at least 5-7 years of experience as a CTO, CIO, or VP of Engineering for a large, complex, global organization.
