Product Vision and Strategic Leadership

Define, articulate, and champion a compelling long-term product vision and strategy that aligns with the company’s mission and business objectives. Translate this vision into a clear, actionable, and prioritized product roadmap that anticipates market trends and customer requirements.

Go-to-Market (GTM) Collaboration

Act as a key partner to the Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success teams. Develop and execute effective GTM strategies for new products and features, including pricing, packaging, and positioning. Ensure the entire organization is enabled and aligned for successful product launches.

Executive and Cross-Functional Partnership

As a member of the senior leadership team, contribute to the overall strategic direction of the company. Build strong, collaborative relationships with peers across Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to ensure seamless execution and alignment on company-wide goals.

Innovation and Growth Strategy

Drive innovation by identifying and evaluating new market opportunities, technological shifts, and potential partnerships. Champion a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement, exploring new business models and strategies like product-led growth to accelerate market penetration and customer adoption.

Data-Driven Decision Making

Define, monitor, and analyze key product metrics (e.g., adoption, engagement, retention, NPS) to measure success and guide the product roadmap. Implement robust processes for A/B testing, user analytics, and performance tracking to ensure decisions are grounded in data.

Financial and Business Acumen

Develop and manage the product organization’s budget. Contribute to the company’s financial planning and forecasting by providing insights into product performance, market opportunities, and resource requirements. Play a key role in M&A evaluation from a product and technology perspective.

Requirements for the Chief Product Officer with an Enterprise SaaS Firm – San Francisco, CA

Executive Product Leadership Experience

A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in product management, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership capacity (e.g., CPO, VP of Product, Head of Product) managing multiple product lines and teams.

Enterprise SaaS Domain Expertise

Deep and demonstrable experience within the B2B/Enterprise SaaS industry is mandatory. A proven track record of successfully launching and scaling complex, multi-tenant software products for large enterprise customers.

Strategic Visionary

The ability to think strategically and create a product vision that inspires the team and aligns the company. Must be able to see the big picture and connect it to day-to-day execution.

Proven Team Builder

Technical Fluency

A strong technical background or a deep understanding of modern software architecture, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), APIs, data analytics, and AI/ML technologies. Must be able to engage in credible, productive discussions with senior engineering leaders.

Exceptional Communication Skills

World-class written and verbal communication skills. The ability to articulate complex concepts simply and persuasively to a wide range of audiences, from engineers to the Board of Directors and major enterprise clients.

Customer Empathy

A relentless focus on the customer. A history of building products based on deep user empathy and a commitment to solving real-world customer problems.

Business Acumen

Strong understanding of business fundamentals, including P&L management, pricing strategies, market analysis, and sales cycles in the enterprise software space.

Educational Background
