Key Responsibilities of Chief Human Resources Officer with a Global Biopharma – Philadelphia, PA
The CHRO will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, overseeing all aspects of the global human resources function. This includes, but is not limited to, the following key areas:
Strategic Leadership & Executive Partnership
Act as a trusted advisor and strategic counsel to the CEO, Board of Directors, and the executive leadership team on all human capital matters. Organizational Development & Culture
Serve as the primary steward of the company’s culture, ensuring its values are embedded in all people processes. Lead organizational design and development initiatives to ensure the company structure is agile, scalable, and effective. Champion change management efforts related to M&A integration, organizational restructuring, and strategic pivots. Drive employee engagement and retention strategies to create an inspiring and inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive.
Total Rewards Strategy
Architect and oversee a global total rewards philosophy and strategy that is competitive, equitable, and aligned with the company’s financial goals. This includes designing and administering executive compensation programs, broad-based salary structures, annual incentive plans, and long-term equity programs. Ensure benefit and wellness programs are comprehensive, innovative, and meet the needs of a diverse, global workforce.
HR Operations, Technology, & Compliance
Lead the HR operations team to deliver efficient and effective HR services globally. Drive the optimization and modernization of HR technology systems (HRIS, ATS, etc.) to enhance automation, employee experience, and data analytics capabilities. Ensure the company’s compliance with all applicable labor laws, regulations, and reporting requirements across all jurisdictions of operation. Mitigate risk by overseeing employee relations, investigations, and policy development.
Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DE&I)
Champion and lead the development and execution of the company’s global DE&I strategy. Requirements for the Chief Human Resources Officer with a Global Biopharma – Philadelphia, PA
The successful candidate will be a seasoned and strategic HR executive with a proven track record of leadership in complex, high-growth environments within the life sciences sector.
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree (e.g., Master’s in HR, Organizational Psychology) is strongly preferred.
Executive Experience
A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive human resources experience, with at least 7 years in a senior HR leadership role (e.g., VP of HR, Head of HR) for a global organization or a significant business unit. Prior experience as a CHRO is highly desirable.
Industry Expertise
Deep and direct experience within the biopharmaceutical, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology industry is a mandatory requirement. Global Leadership
