Key Responsibilities of Managing Director, Private Wealth with a Global Brokerage – Miami, FL
Strategic Leadership & Business Growth
Develop and execute a comprehensive business plan for the Miami office, setting ambitious goals for asset acquisition, revenue growth, and market share expansion. Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities within the UHNW and family office segments.
Team Management & Development
Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Private Wealth Advisors and support staff. Foster a high-performance culture through continuous coaching, professional development, and performance management. Actively participate in the recruitment, hiring, and retention of top-tier advisor talent to expand the team’s capabilities.
P&L Management
Assume full responsibility for the office’s profit and loss (P&L) statement. Manage budgets, control expenses, and optimize resource allocation to ensure profitability and sustainable growth in alignment with the firm’s overall financial objectives.
Client Relationship Management
Serve as the senior relationship manager for the office’s most significant UHNW clients. Provide expert guidance and sophisticated advice on complex wealth management issues, ensuring the highest level of client satisfaction and retention. Act as an escalation point for complex client situations.
Business Development & Market Presence
Proactively build and maintain a strong network of contacts, including attorneys, accountants, and other centers of influence, to generate a robust pipeline of new business. Represent the firm at industry conferences, community events, and philanthropic functions to enhance its brand and reputation in the Miami market.
Risk Management & Compliance
Uphold the highest standards of regulatory compliance and ethical conduct. Ensure that all office activities adhere to firm policies and industry regulations, including those set forth by FINRA and the SEC. Oversee all supervisory functions to mitigate operational and reputational risk.
Investment Strategy & Oversight
Collaborate with the firm’s central investment committee and product specialists to deliver sophisticated, customized investment solutions to clients. Provide oversight and guidance to advisors on portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk management strategies tailored to the complex needs of UHNW clients.
Collaboration & Integration
Work closely with partners across other divisions of the firm, such as Investment Banking, Asset Management, and Trust Services, to deliver the full breadth of the firm’s capabilities to clients in a seamless and integrated manner, thereby deepening client relationships and uncovering new revenue streams.
Requirements for the Managing Director, Private Wealth with a Global Brokerage – Miami, FL
Extensive Industry Experience
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the private wealth management industry, with a demonstrable track record of success in serving UHNW clients.
Proven Leadership
At least 5-7 years of direct management experience, leading, recruiting, and developing teams of successful Financial Advisors. Proven ability to drive team performance and foster a collaborative environment.
Strong Business Acumen
A significant and portable book of UHNW client relationships is highly preferred, or a clear and documented history of substantial net new asset growth in a leadership capacity.
Deep Market Knowledge
Comprehensive understanding of global financial markets, asset classes, alternative investments, and sophisticated wealth planning techniques, including trust and estate planning, tax optimization, and philanthropic strategies.
Required Licenses
Active and in good standing FINRA Series 7, 66 (or 63 & 65), and 9/10 (or 24) licenses are mandatory.
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Professional Designations
Professional certifications such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®), or Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA®) are highly desirable.
Local Network
A deep and established network within the Miami and greater South Florida professional and social communities is a significant advantage.
Exceptional Skills
Superior communication, presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Must possess the executive presence required to interact effectively with sophisticated clients and senior firm leadership. Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
