Key Responsibilities of EVP, Head of Global Operations with an Automotive OEM – Detroit, MI
Strategic Operational Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive global operations strategy that aligns with the company’s overall strategic objectives, financial goals, and long-term vision. Collaborate with the C-suite to set ambitious performance targets and define the operational roadmap for growth, efficiency, and market leadership. Champion innovation and transformation across all operational functions.
Global Manufacturing Excellence
Oversee all aspects of the company’s global manufacturing network, including multiple assembly plants and component facilities. Implement and standardize best-in-class manufacturing processes to optimize productivity, enhance product quality, and reduce operational costs. Drive the adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, and smart factory initiatives to build the plants of the future.
Supply Chain & Logistics Mastery
Architect and manage a resilient, agile, and cost-effective global supply chain. Lead strategic sourcing, procurement, inventory management, and logistics to ensure an uninterrupted flow of materials and components to production facilities. Proactively mitigate risks associated with geopolitical shifts, supplier dependencies, and market volatility.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
Instill a deeply embedded culture of continuous improvement across the entire organization. Champion the rigorous application of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other operational excellence frameworks. Empower teams at all levels to identify and eliminate waste, streamline processes, and drive sustained performance gains.
Financial & P&L Management
Assume full P&L responsibility for global operations. Develop and manage multi-billion-dollar operational budgets, capital expenditure (CapEx) plans, and cost-control initiatives. Utilize data-driven analysis to make informed financial decisions that enhance profitability and deliver maximum value to shareholders.
Quality Assurance & Control
Uphold the highest standards of product quality and reliability. Lead the global quality assurance function, ensuring that all products meet or exceed stringent internal standards, customer expectations, and regulatory requirements. Implement robust quality control systems and foster a zero-defect mindset throughout the manufacturing process.
Health, Safety, & Environmental (HSE) Stewardship
Champion a world-class safety culture across all global sites, with the ultimate goal of zero incidents. Ensure strict compliance with all local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations. Drive sustainability initiatives within operations to reduce the company’s environmental footprint.
Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global operations leadership team. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation. Attract and retain top-tier talent, building a robust succession pipeline to ensure the long-term health and capability of the operations function.
Technology & Digital Transformation

Requirements for the EVP, Head of Global Operations with an Automotive OEM – Detroit, MI
Executive Experience
A minimum of 20 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, with at least 10 years in a senior executive role (e.g., VP, SVP, or C-level) overseeing large-scale, multi-site global manufacturing operations.
Industry Expertise
Deep and extensive experience within the automotive industry is mandatory. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success within a major Automotive OEM or a large Tier-1 supplier environment.
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Operational Excellence Acumen
Master-level knowledge and practical application of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Toyota Production System (TPS), and other continuous improvement methodologies. A certification (e.g., Master Black Belt) is highly desirable.
Financial Acumen
Demonstrated expertise in managing large, complex budgets and full P&L responsibility. Strong command of financial metrics, ROI analysis, and strategic capital planning.
Global Mindset
Proven experience managing a culturally diverse, global workforce and navigating the complexities of international business, including varying regulations, labor laws, and supply chain logistics.
Transformational Leadership
