The SVP, Global HR and Talent Development is the most senior human resources leader in the organization, charged with overseeing all aspects of the company’s human capital management on a global scale. This executive will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing programs that support robust talent acquisition, leadership development, succession planning, organizational design, total rewards, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within a large-scale manufacturing environment, including managing a diverse workforce of corporate, technical, and production employees across various geographies and cultures. Key Responsibilities of SVP, Global HR, Talent Development with a Major Manufacturer – Cleveland, OH

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to define and execute a global HR strategy that aligns with and accelerates the company’s long-term business goals. Provide expert counsel on organizational design, change management, and workforce planning to support strategic initiatives, mergers, and acquisitions.

Global Talent Management & Development

Architect and lead a world-class talent management ecosystem. This includes developing comprehensive strategies for leadership development, high-potential employee identification, robust succession planning for critical roles, and creating career-pathing frameworks that foster internal mobility and growth.

Organizational Effectiveness & Culture

Champion the company’s culture and values, ensuring they are embedded in all HR programs and practices. Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement, morale, and productivity. Utilize employee feedback and HR analytics to identify trends and implement targeted interventions.

Total Rewards Strategy

Oversee the design and administration of global compensation, benefits, and recognition programs. Ensure that the total rewards package is competitive, equitable, and effective in attracting, motivating, and retaining top-tier talent across all regions while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

HR Operations & Technology

Employee & Labor Relations

Provide strategic oversight for all employee relations matters globally. In regions with union representation, guide the labor relations strategy, including collective bargaining negotiations and contract administration, to foster a constructive and collaborative relationship with labor partners.

Global Compliance & Risk Management

Ensure the organization’s HR policies and practices comply with all relevant laws and regulations in the countries where it operates. Proactively identify and mitigate people-related risks to protect the organization.

Requirements for the SVP, Global HR, Talent Development with a Major Manufacturer – Cleveland, OH

Educational Background

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is highly preferred.

Executive Experience

A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive human resources experience, with at least 7 years in a senior executive leadership role (VP or SVP) overseeing the global HR function for a complex, multinational organization.

Industry Expertise

Significant experience within the manufacturing, industrial, or a related capital-intensive industry is essential. Must have a deep understanding of the dynamics of a workforce that includes both salaried and hourly production employees. Experience in both union and non-union environments is critical.

Functional Mastery

A strong financial and business acumen is required. The ability to understand business models, analyze financial data, and connect HR initiatives directly to profitability and performance is paramount.

Influencing Skills

Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills with the ability to build credibility and strong relationships with the executive team, Board of Directors, and employees at all levels.

Certifications

Professional certifications such as the SHRM-SCP or SPHR are considered a significant asset.
