The VP, FP&A will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and serve as a key member of the finance leadership team. Key Responsibilities of VP, FP&A with a Public FinTech Firm – Dallas, TX
Strategic Financial Leadership & Executive Partnership
Act as a primary financial advisor to the CFO and other C-suite executives. Lead the development of the company’s long-range financial plan, translating corporate strategy into a multi-year financial roadmap. Provide robust financial modeling and analysis to support strategic initiatives, including M&A, new product launches, and major capital investments.
Budgeting and Forecasting Ownership
Drive the entire corporate financial planning process, including the annual operating plan (AOP) and monthly/quarterly rolling forecasts. Collaborate with business unit leaders across the organization to develop challenging but achievable targets, ensuring alignment with overall corporate objectives. Implement processes to improve forecast accuracy and timeliness.
Performance Management and Insightful Analysis
Oversee the preparation of comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial review packages for the executive team and Board of Directors. Go beyond simple variance analysis to deliver deep, actionable insights into business performance, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities. Develop and track a robust set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that align with shareholder value creation.
Public Company & Investor Relations Support
Play a pivotal role in the quarterly earnings cycle. Partner closely with the Investor Relations and Accounting teams to prepare earnings releases, scripts, supporting schedules, and materials for investor calls. Assist in the preparation of SEC filings (10-K, 10-Q) and ensure financial narratives are consistent and accurate.
Cross-Functional Business Partnership
Serve as the primary finance partner for senior leaders across Sales, Marketing, Product, and Engineering. Provide them with the financial tools and insights needed to manage their budgets, evaluate ROI on their initiatives, and make sound operational decisions. Foster a culture of financial discipline and accountability throughout the organization.
Team Development and Mentorship
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-caliber FP&A team. Attract and retain top talent, providing clear direction, constructive feedback, and career development opportunities. Cultivate a team culture of continuous improvement, intellectual curiosity, and proactive business partnership.
Systems and Process Scalability
Continuously evaluate and enhance FP&A systems, tools, and processes to support the company’s rapid growth. Champion initiatives to increase automation, improve data integrity, and create scalable reporting infrastructure, leveraging cutting-edge corporate finance strategies and technologies.
Requirements for the VP, FP&A with a Public FinTech Firm – Dallas, TX
Educational & Professional Credentials
A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field is required. An MBA from a top-tier institution and/or a CPA designation is strongly preferred.
Extensive Leadership Experience
A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 7+ years in a senior FP&A leadership role managing a team. Proven experience as a ‘number two’ to a CFO or as the head of FP&A for a significant business unit or company.
Public Company & Industry Expertise
Direct experience working within a publicly-traded company is mandatory. You must have a deep understanding of the quarterly reporting cadence, investor relations, and regulatory requirements (SOX, SEC). Prior experience in the FinTech, SaaS, or a high-growth technology sector is essential.
Technical & Systems Acumen
Expert-level proficiency in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel is non-negotiable. Extensive experience with sophisticated ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and modern FP&A planning tools (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Planful). Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI is a significant plus.
Exceptional Communication & Influence
Superior written and verbal communication skills with the proven ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner to diverse audiences, including the Board of Directors. Must possess strong executive presence and the ability to build credibility and influence at all levels of the organization.

A demonstrated ability to think strategically and link financial performance to business strategy.
