Key Responsibilities of Chief Human Resources Officer with a Global Retailer – Bentonville, AR

The CHRO will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, overseeing the global HR function and acting as a strategic partner to the business. Key duties include:

Strategic Leadership & Executive Partnership

  • Serve as a strategic advisor and coach to the CEO, board of directors, and executive leadership team on all aspects of human capital management.
  • Develop and execute a progressive, forward-thinking global HR strategy that aligns with and accelerates the company’s overall business plan and strategic direction.

Organizational Development & Culture

  • Act as the primary steward of the company’s culture, actively working to shape, reinforce, and evolve a positive, inclusive, and high-performance work environment.
  • Lead the company’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategy, embedding DEI principles into all people processes and fostering a culture of belonging.

Total Rewards & HR Operations

  • Design and administer a competitive and equitable global total rewards strategy, including executive compensation, broad-based pay, incentive plans, and benefits programs.
  • Ensure compensation and benefits programs are aligned with market trends, business objectives, and the company’s financial performance.
  • Oversee the modernization and optimization of HR technology systems (HRIS) and platforms to improve efficiency, enhance the employee experience, and enable data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure the HR function operates with a high degree of operational excellence, efficiency, and compliance.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations issues, fostering a fair and respectful workplace.

  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that reflect best practices and mitigate risk for the organization.

Requirements for the Chief Human Resources Officer with a Global Retailer – Bentonville, AR

The successful candidate will be a proven HR executive with the experience and gravitas to lead a large, global function. The following qualifications are required:

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree (MBA or Master’s in HR/Labor Relations) is strongly preferred.

Experience

  • A minimum of 20 years of progressive human resources experience, with at least 7-10 years in a senior executive leadership role (e.g., CHRO, SVP/VP of HR) for a large, global, and complex organization.
  • Direct experience within the retail, CPG, or a related fast-paced, high-volume industry is essential.
  • Proven experience reporting to a CEO and working closely with a Board of Directors in a publicly traded company is highly desirable.
