Role Overview for SVP, Human Resources with a Technology Services Firm – Raleigh, NC

As the SVP, Human Resources, you will be the ultimate owner of the entire employee lifecycle and the primary custodian of the company’s culture. You will be tasked with designing and executing a comprehensive people strategy that aligns with and accelerates the company’s strategic objectives.

This role requires a perfect blend of high-level strategic thinking and hands-on operational execution. You will lead and mentor a talented HR team, empowering them to deliver exceptional service across all facets of human resources, including talent acquisition, organizational design, employee engagement, leadership development, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), total rewards, and HR systems and compliance.

Key Responsibilities of SVP, Human Resources with a Technology Services Firm – Raleigh, NC

The SVP of Human Resources will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Act as a strategic partner and trusted advisor to the CEO and executive leadership team on all human capital matters, providing insights and counsel to inform business strategy.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive, forward-thinking HR strategy that is directly aligned with the company’s mission, values, and long-term growth plans.
  • Utilize data analytics and HR metrics to provide insights into workforce trends, measure the effectiveness of people initiatives, and drive informed decision-making.
  • Serve as a coach and mentor to senior leaders, enhancing their leadership capabilities and effectiveness in managing their teams.
  • Lead HR through complex business situations, including potential M&A activities, ensuring seamless cultural and operational integration.

Talent Acquisition & Management

  • Oversee the entire talent acquisition function to build a robust pipeline and attract world-class talent, particularly for specialized technical and leadership roles.
  • Design and implement innovative, scalable recruiting strategies that enhance the company’s employer brand and ensure a superior candidate experience.
  • Evolve and manage a comprehensive performance management philosophy and system that drives a culture of high performance, continuous feedback, and professional growth.
  • Develop and execute a robust talent management and succession planning framework to identify and develop high-potential employees and ensure leadership continuity.

Organizational Design & Development

  • Lead organizational design and workforce planning initiatives to ensure the company’s structure and talent are optimized to support strategic goals and scaling efforts.
  • Champion and cultivate a learning culture by creating comprehensive learning and development programs that enhance employee skills and capabilities at all levels.
  • Design and facilitate leadership development programs to build a strong bench of future leaders within the organization. Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in talent management and organizational change.

Culture, Engagement & DEI

  • Act as the primary steward and champion of the company’s unique culture, ensuring its values are embedded in all people processes and daily interactions.
  • Develop and implement data-driven strategies and initiatives to measure and enhance employee engagement, morale, and retention.
  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategy that fosters a sense of belonging for all employees and is integrated into all aspects of the business.

Total Rewards & HR Operations

  • Design, implement, and manage a competitive and equitable total rewards strategy, including compensation structures, incentive plans, equity programs, and benefits packages, to attract and retain top talent.
  • Ensure all HR operations, policies, and procedures are efficient, scalable, and compliant with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Oversee the optimization and management of the HRIS and technology stack to improve efficiency, streamline processes, and provide valuable data and analytics.
  • Provide expert guidance and resolution for complex employee relations issues with a high degree of empathy, fairness, and discretion.

Requirements for the SVP, Human Resources with a Technology Services Firm – Raleigh, NC

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., VP, SVP) overseeing the entire HR function.
  • Demonstrated experience in a high-growth, fast-paced technology, SaaS, or professional services environment is essential.
  • Proven track record of successfully scaling an organization from a people, process, and systems perspective.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to understand and articulate the financial and operational impact of HR initiatives.
  • Deep, expert-level knowledge across all HR disciplines, including talent acquisition, compensation, benefits, employee relations, compliance, and organizational development.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility at all levels of the organization, including the Board of Directors.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Human Resources, or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR are highly desirable.
  • Experience leading the HR function through significant organizational events such as mergers, acquisitions, or IPO readiness.
  • Experience working within a private equity-backed or publicly traded company environment.
  • Familiarity and experience with the Raleigh-Durham technology ecosystem is a plus.
