Key Responsibilities of Chief People Officer with a Growing Tech Company – Denver, CO

The Chief People Officer will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, overseeing all facets of the People function. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Strategic Leadership & Business Partnership

  • Collaborate directly with the CEO and executive team to define and execute a long-term people strategy that supports the company’s strategic goals, mission, and values.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor, providing insightful counsel on organizational design, change management, succession planning, and leadership development.
  • Utilize data and people analytics to provide critical insights, measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives, and inform business decisions.
  • Champion and embed the company’s culture and values throughout the employee lifecycle, ensuring they are reflected in all people-related processes and programs.
  • Act as a coach and mentor to senior leaders, enhancing their leadership capabilities and effectiveness in managing their teams.

Talent Acquisition & Management

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive talent acquisition strategy to attract, assess, and hire top-tier, diverse talent across all levels and departments.
  • Enhance the company’s employer brand to position it as a premier destination for talent in the Denver tech community and beyond.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of a robust onboarding program that ensures new hires are quickly integrated and set up for success.
  • Implement and manage a progressive performance management philosophy and system that fosters continuous feedback, professional growth, and high performance.
  • Create and execute clear career pathing and succession planning frameworks to develop internal talent and build a strong leadership pipeline.

Culture, Engagement & DE&I

  • Act as the primary steward of the company’s culture, actively working to cultivate an environment that is inclusive, innovative, collaborative, and empowering.
  • Design and implement strategies to measure and improve employee engagement, morale, and retention, using surveys and feedback loops to drive meaningful action.
  • Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I) strategy, embedding its principles into all aspects of the organization.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and ethical work environment, overseeing employee relations with a high degree of empathy, fairness, and integrity.

Total Rewards & HR Operations

  • Design and administer a comprehensive total rewards strategy, including competitive compensation, equity, benefits, and recognition programs that attract and retain top talent.
  • Ensure all compensation and benefits programs are scalable, compliant with regulations, and aligned with market trends and company philosophy.
  • Oversee all HR operations, including HRIS management, people analytics and reporting, compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, and policy development.
  • Leverage technology to streamline HR processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the overall employee experience.
  • Manage the People department budget and effectively allocate resources to achieve strategic objectives.

Requirements for the Chief People Officer with a Growing Tech Company – Denver, CO

We are seeking a seasoned and accomplished HR leader with a proven track record of success in high-growth environments. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Experience

A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources, with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., VP of People, Head of HR, CPO) for a rapidly scaling technology, SaaS, or software company.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree (MBA, MHRM) is strongly preferred.

Certifications

Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP or SPHR are highly desirable.

Strategic Acumen

Demonstrated ability to function as a strategic business partner and translate business strategy into actionable people initiatives. Experience in M&A due diligence and integration is a significant plus.

Leadership Skills

Proven experience building, leading, and mentoring high-performing HR teams. An inspirational leader who can influence and build trust at all levels of the organization.

Data-Driven Mindset
