The VP of Investor Relations will be responsible for architecting and executing a world-class investor relations program that effectively communicates the company’s strategy, financial performance, and long-term vision to enhance shareholder value and build a loyal, long-term investor base.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), you will be a key advisor to the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors on all matters related to the investment community’s perception of the company. Strategic Program Development
Design, implement, and manage a comprehensive, proactive investor relations strategy and program. This includes defining key messages, setting goals for investor engagement, and establishing metrics to measure the effectiveness of the IR program.
External Communications & Messaging
Serve as the primary point of contact for the investment community. Lead the creation of all IR-related communications materials, including quarterly earnings releases, conference call scripts, investor presentations, Q&A documents, and content for the IR section of the company website.
Relationship Management
Cultivate and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with buy-side and sell-side analysts, institutional investors, and key shareholders. Proactively communicate with analysts to ensure their financial models are accurate and their research reports reflect a thorough understanding of the company.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Collaborate closely with the finance, accounting, and legal teams to prepare and review SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K. Develop a profound understanding of the company’s financial statements, performance drivers, and key business metrics.
Market Intelligence & Feedback Loop
Continuously monitor and analyze market trends, competitor activities, and analyst reports. Provide the executive team and Board of Directors with timely and insightful feedback on market sentiment, investor perceptions, and research analyst opinions. Act as the voice of the investor within the company.
Event Management
Plan and execute a robust calendar of investor events, including quarterly earnings calls, non-deal roadshows, investor days, and participation in industry and banking conferences. Manage all logistics to ensure seamless execution and maximum impact.
Internal Collaboration
Partner with cross-functional teams, including senior leadership (CEO, CFO), corporate communications, public relations, legal, and product teams, to ensure a consistent and unified corporate message across all external communications.
Board & Executive Advisory
Prepare and present materials for the Board of Directors on investor relations activities, stock performance, shareholder base analysis, and market intelligence. Serve as a trusted advisor to the C-suite on disclosure and communication strategies.
Requirements for the VP, Investor Relations with a Public Technology Company – Reston, VA
Experience
A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in investor relations, corporate finance, equity research (sell-side), or investment management (buy-side). Significant experience within a publicly traded technology company is strongly required. Proven track record of developing and leading a successful investor relations function.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related business field is required. An MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is highly preferred.
Financial Acumen
Deep expertise in financial analysis, valuation modeling, and capital markets. Must be able to deconstruct and analyze financial statements and articulate the company’s financial strategy with authority and clarity.
Communication Skills
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills are paramount. Demonstrated ability to distill complex technical and financial information into simple, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
Regulatory Knowledge
Comprehensive understanding of financial markets and expert knowledge of SEC regulations and disclosure requirements, including Regulation FD, to ensure full compliance.
Leadership & Presence
Strong executive presence, professional maturity, and the confidence to interact effectively with senior executives, board members, and the investment community. A high degree of integrity and professional ethics is non-negotiable.
Strategic Mindset
Ability to think strategically and contribute to broader business discussions. Must be able to connect IR activities directly to the company’s strategic objectives and long-term value creation.

An established network of contacts and a strong reputation within the investment community is a significant asset.
Technical Skills
Proficiency with financial research tools and platforms such as Bloomberg Terminal, FactSet, and IR CRM software.
