Role Overview for Chief Financial Officer – New York, NY

JRG Partners is proud to announce an exclusive search for a transformative Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on behalf of our client, a pioneering and rapidly expanding medical device company headquartered in the vibrant heart of New York, NY. This is a rare opportunity to join the executive leadership team of a company that is fundamentally changing patient outcomes through groundbreaking technology. Our client, backed by top-tier venture capital, is at a critical and exciting inflection point, poised for exponential growth, market expansion, and a potential future liquidity event.

As the Chief Financial Officer, you will be more than a financial steward; you will be a strategic co-pilot to the Chief Executive Officer and a key advisor to the Board of Directors. You will be instrumental in shaping the company’s future, providing the financial leadership, strategic vision, and operational rigor necessary to scale the organization effectively and sustainably.

This role requires a dynamic leader who can seamlessly transition between high-level strategy—such as capital allocation, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations—and hands-on operational oversight of the entire finance and accounting function.

You will be responsible for building and mentoring a world-class finance organization, fostering a culture of accountability, data-driven decision-making, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience from the medical device or life sciences sector, a proven track record of success in high-growth environments, and an unwavering commitment to ethical leadership and financial integrity.

  • Develop and execute the company’s long-term financial strategy, including robust financial models, long-range plans, and scenario analyses to support strategic growth initiatives.
  • Lead all capital-raising activities, including equity and debt financing rounds, by preparing compelling financial narratives, managing due diligence processes, and negotiating terms.

  • Establish and maintain a sophisticated KPI dashboard to monitor business performance against strategic goals, providing timely and insightful analysis of variances and trends.
  • Partner with department heads to provide financial guidance, improve budget ownership, and drive operational efficiencies across the organization.
  • Analyze the financial viability of new product launches, market entry strategies, and capital expenditure projects to ensure a strong return on investment.

Accounting, Control, and Compliance

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including General Ledger, A/P, A/R, Revenue Recognition, and Payroll, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, delivering precise and timely financial statements and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) if applicable.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, managing the annual audit process to ensure a clean and timely opinion. Oversee all tax planning and compliance activities.
  • Ensure the company is compliant with all local, state, federal, and international financial regulations, including navigating complex FDA regulations that impact financial reporting and operations in the medical device sector.

Treasury and Capital Management

  • Develop and implement effective cash management and treasury strategies to optimize liquidity, manage working capital, and mitigate financial risk.
