As the VP of Software Engineering for the Cloud Data Platform, you will be the executive responsible for the entire lifecycle of data—from ingestion and processing to storage, access, and governance. Strategic and Technical Leadership

Define, articulate, and execute a long-term technical vision and strategy for the cloud data platform. Drive architectural decisions to ensure the platform is scalable, reliable, cost-effective, and secure, aligning with the company’s ambitious growth targets.

Execution and Delivery

Requirements for the VP, Software Engineering with a Cloud Data Platform – Mountain View, CA

Executive Leadership Experience

A minimum of 15 years of experience in the software industry, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership capacity (Director, Senior Director, or VP) managing multiple software engineering teams. Proven experience managing managers and leading organizations of 50+ engineers.

Deep Technical Expertise

Extensive, hands-on experience designing, building, and operating large-scale, distributed data systems in the cloud. You must have deep familiarity with the ecosystem of a major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), including their core data services (e.g., S3, Redshift, EMR, Kinesis, BigQuery, Dataflow, ADLS).

Modern Data Stack Fluency

Profound knowledge of modern data processing frameworks and technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Flink, and Presto/Trino. You should have practical experience with the principles and implementation of a modern data lakehouse architecture.

Proven Scalability Success

A demonstrated track record of scaling data platforms to handle petabyte-level data and high-throughput, low-latency workloads. You have successfully navigated the challenges of data growth, performance tuning, and cost management at scale.
