Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO), the VP of Global IT Infrastructure will serve as a key member of the senior technology leadership team. Key Responsibilities of VP, Global IT Infrastructure with a Healthcare Tech Firm – Nashville, TN
The VP, Global IT Infrastructure will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, encompassing strategic planning, operational oversight, team leadership, and financial management. Success in this role requires a blend of deep technical expertise and strong business acumen.
Strategic Planning and Leadership
Develop and execute a comprehensive global IT infrastructure strategy and multi-year roadmap that aligns with and enables the company’s long-term business objectives. Champion technological innovation and drive the adoption of modern infrastructure paradigms, including cloud-native architectures, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation to enhance agility and efficiency.
Global Infrastructure Operations
Assume ultimate ownership for the availability, performance, and security of all global IT infrastructure services. This includes on-premise data centers, colocation facilities, and extensive public cloud deployments across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP. Oversee network architecture, including LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and cloud networking, ensuring robust connectivity and performance for all corporate offices and production environments.
Cloud Strategy and Management
Lead the evolution of the company’s cloud strategy, optimizing a hybrid/multi-cloud environment for cost, performance, and scalability. Establish and enforce cloud governance policies, best practices, and cost management frameworks (FinOps) to maximize the value of cloud investments.
Team Development and Mentorship
Lead, mentor, and inspire a global organization of infrastructure professionals. Foster a high-performance, collaborative, and inclusive culture. Attract, develop, and retain top-tier talent, building a succession pipeline for critical roles within the infrastructure organization.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
Design, implement, and regularly test a comprehensive disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity plan (BCP) to ensure the resilience of critical systems and minimize business impact in the event of an outage or disaster.
Security and Compliance Partnership
Collaborate closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and the cybersecurity team to implement and maintain a robust security posture across the infrastructure. Ensure that all infrastructure components and processes are compliant with relevant industry regulations, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), GDPR, and SOC 2.
Financial and Vendor Management
Develop and manage the annual multi-million dollar operating (OpEx) and capital (CapEx) budgets for the global infrastructure department. Lead contract negotiations and manage strategic relationships with key technology vendors, service providers, and partners to ensure optimal value and service delivery.
Performance Monitoring and Service Management
Implement and manage a robust set of monitoring and alerting tools to proactively identify and resolve infrastructure issues. Mature the IT Service Management (ITSM) processes based on frameworks like ITIL, focusing on incident, problem, and change management to deliver exceptional service levels to internal stakeholders.

We are seeking a seasoned and accomplished leader with a deep understanding of modern IT infrastructure and a history of success in complex, global organizations.
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree (MBA or MS) is highly preferred.
Executive Experience
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in Information Technology, with at least 7-10 years in a senior leadership role (Director, Senior Director, or VP level) managing large-scale, global IT infrastructure teams and environments.
Technical Acumen
Extensive hands-on experience and deep knowledge across a wide range of infrastructure domains, including:
- Cloud Computing: Proven experience managing large-scale production environments in public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including expertise in cloud architecture, migration, and cost optimization.
Networking
Strong understanding of enterprise networking concepts, including TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, SD-WAN, firewalls, and load balancers.
Data Centers & Systems
Experience managing modern data center operations, virtualization technologies (VMware), enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS), and both Windows and Linux server environments.
Automation
Demonstrable experience with infrastructure automation tools and concepts (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Puppet, Chef).
Industry Experience
Experience in the healthcare, life sciences, or another highly regulated industry is strongly preferred. A thorough understanding of the compliance landscape, particularly HIPAA, is a significant advantage.
Leadership Skills
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to articulate a clear vision, influence senior executives, and motivate a diverse, global team is paramount. Proven ability to lead through organizational change and transformation.
Strategic and Financial Acumen
