The Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis will serve as the financial architect of the company’s growth story. You will lead the FP&A function, taking full ownership of the budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and financial reporting processes. Key Responsibilities of VP, FP&A with a PE-backed Technology Company – San Antonio, TX

Strategic Financial Leadership

Act as a key business partner to the CFO and executive team. Lead the development of the annual operating plan (AOP), long-range strategic plans, and rolling financial forecasts that are fully aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.

Performance Management & Reporting

Oversee the preparation of comprehensive monthly and quarterly reporting packages for management, the Board of Directors, and PE investors. Provide insightful variance analysis and commentary on financial and operational performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods.

Advanced Financial Modeling

Develop, maintain, and enhance sophisticated financial models to support strategic initiatives, including M&A due diligence, pricing analysis, new product introductions, and capital investment decisions.

SaaS Metrics & KPI Mastery

Define, track, and analyze key SaaS and operational metrics (e.g., ARR, NRR, LTV:CAC, Gross & Net Churn, Magic Number). Develop dashboards and reporting to provide visibility into business drivers and trends.

Business Partnership

Collaborate closely with department heads across the organization to provide financial guidance, develop departmental budgets, and ensure financial discipline and accountability. Serve as the go-to financial expert for the business.

PE Sponsor & Board Relations

Manage the financial reporting cadence and requirements for the private equity sponsor. Prepare compelling presentations and materials for board meetings, investor updates, and lender communications, effectively telling the company’s financial story.

Process & Systems Improvement

Drive the continuous improvement and automation of FP&A processes. Evaluate and implement new financial systems and tools (e.g., CPM/EPM software) to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and analytical capabilities as the company scales.

Team Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing FP&A team. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth, empowering your team to become trusted business partners.

Cash Flow Management

Own the detailed cash flow forecasting process, working closely with the Controller to manage liquidity and working capital effectively.

Requirements for the VP, FP&A with a PE-backed Technology Company – San Antonio, TX

Educational Background

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required. An MBA and/or CPA designation is strongly preferred.

Professional Experience

A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 7 years in a senior FP&A leadership role (Director or VP level).

Industry Expertise

Deep experience within the B2B SaaS or technology industry is a non-negotiable requirement. Must have a thorough understanding of SaaS business models and key metrics.

Private Equity Experience

Demonstrable experience working within a fast-paced, private equity-backed company is mandatory. You must understand the unique demands, reporting cadence, and private equity value creation playbook.

Technical Skills

Expert-level proficiency in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel. Extensive experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage Intacct) and modern FP&A/CPM platforms (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Vena).

Leadership Acumen

Proven track record of building, leading, and mentoring high-performing finance teams. Ability to inspire and motivate others to achieve ambitious goals.
