Key Responsibilities of VP, FP&A, Corporate Lead with a Public Software Company – Denver, CO
As the Vice President of FP&A, you will own the corporate financial model and be the central figure in all planning and analysis activities. Your responsibilities will be broad and strategic, requiring a blend of technical financial acumen, leadership prowess, and business partnership skills. You will be expected to:
Strategic Financial Leadership
Act as a key financial advisor to the CFO and executive team. Lead the development of the company’s long-range financial plan, annual budget, and rolling forecasts. Provide thought leadership on business strategy, resource allocation, and investment decisions to drive sustainable, profitable growth.
Corporate Planning & Forecasting
Orchestrate and manage the end-to-end corporate FP&A calendar and processes. This includes leading the annual operating plan (AOP) process, quarterly re-forecasting, and monthly financial updates with precision and efficiency. Ensure the accuracy and predictability of the company’s financial outlook.
Performance Analysis & Reporting
Develop and deliver comprehensive management reporting packages for the executive team and Board of Directors. These reports will include detailed analysis of financial results, variance analysis (budget vs. actual, forecast vs. actual), key performance indicators (KPIs), and insightful commentary on business trends and performance drivers.
Business Partnership
Serve as a trusted partner to leaders across the organization, including Sales, Marketing, R&D, and G&A. Provide financial support and analytical rigor to help them manage their budgets, make informed decisions, and achieve their operational goals. Develop strong cross-functional relationships to foster a culture of financial discipline and accountability.
Team Leadership & Development

Investor Relations & External Reporting Support
Partner closely with the Investor Relations and Accounting teams to support quarterly earnings calls, investor presentations, and external financial reporting. Ensure that financial narratives are consistent, accurate, and effectively communicate the company’s performance and strategy to the investment community. Assist in the preparation of materials for SEC filings.
M&A and Strategic Initiatives
Play a key role in evaluating potential mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic investments. Develop complex financial models to assess valuation, synergies, and potential ROI. Support the due diligence process and assist with the financial integration of acquired companies.
Systems & Process Improvement
Continuously evaluate and enhance FP&A processes, systems, and tools to drive efficiency and scale. Champion the adoption of new technologies and best practices to improve forecasting accuracy, automate reporting, and provide more sophisticated analytical capabilities. Lead initiatives to optimize the use of our financial planning software (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Insights) and ERP systems.
Capital Allocation & Cash Flow Management
Analyze and forecast the company’s cash flow, working capital, and capital expenditure. Provide recommendations on capital allocation strategies to optimize shareholder return. Partner with the Treasury team to ensure effective management of the company’s liquidity.

The successful candidate will be a proven finance leader with a deep understanding of the software industry and the demands of a public company. We are seeking an individual with a strong executive presence, exceptional analytical skills, and a collaborative leadership style. The specific qualifications include:
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required. An MBA from a top-tier institution and/or a CPA designation is strongly preferred.
Professional Experience
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 8-10 years in a senior FP&A leadership role. Significant experience within a publicly-traded technology, software, or SaaS company is a mandatory requirement.
Public Company Expertise
Demonstrated experience managing FP&A functions in a public company environment, including a thorough understanding of investor relations, earnings call cycles, and SEC reporting requirements.
Leadership & Management
Proven track record of building, leading, and mentoring high-performing FP&A teams. Experience managing managers and scaling a team to support business growth.
Technical & Analytical Skills
