The SVP, Global Sales & Business Development will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

Global Commercial Strategy

Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive global sales and business development strategy that aligns with the company’s long-term corporate objectives and financial goals.

Revenue Growth & P&L Management

Business Development & Strategic Alliances

Identify, evaluate, and execute strategic partnerships, licensing agreements, and other commercial alliances that accelerate growth and expand market access. Lead commercial due diligence for potential M&A activities.

Market Expansion

Spearhead initiatives to enter new geographic markets. Conduct thorough market analysis to identify and prioritize opportunities, developing tailored entry strategies for each region.

Team Development & Culture

Recruit, train, and retain top-tier commercial talent. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and unwavering customer focus across the global team.

Executive Collaboration

Serve as a key voice on the executive team, providing critical market insights and commercial guidance. Collaborate closely with R&D, Marketing, Operations, Regulatory, and Clinical Affairs to ensure seamless product launches and life cycle management.

Key Opinion Leader (KOL) & Customer Relationships

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key customers, industry thought leaders, and strategic accounts to drive brand loyalty and gather critical market intelligence.

Sales Compensation & Incentives

Design and implement effective sales compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team and align their performance with strategic business objectives.

Market & Competitive Analysis

Continuously monitor the competitive landscape, market trends, and healthcare economic shifts to proactively adapt commercial strategy and maintain a competitive edge.

Pricing & Reimbursement Strategy

Partner with market access and marketing teams to develop and implement effective pricing and reimbursement strategies across different global markets to ensure commercial viability and product adoption.

Requirements for the SVP, Global Sales & Business Development with a Medical Device Co. – Irvine, CA

We are seeking a candidate with a distinguished career and a specific set of qualifications to ensure success in this critical role.

Experience & Track Record

  • A minimum of 20 years of progressive commercial experience within the medical device, life sciences, or healthcare technology industry.
  • At least 10 years of senior leadership experience (VP or SVP level) with a proven track record of managing large, geographically dispersed sales and marketing teams.
  • Demonstrable history of successfully scaling a commercial organization and achieving significant, sustained revenue growth (e.g., growing a business from $100M to $500M+).
  • Extensive international experience is mandatory, with hands-on experience managing commercial operations across North America, EMEA, and APAC regions.
  • Proven success in both direct sales force management and the development and management of indirect/distributor sales channels.
  • Experience with both capital equipment and disposable products within the medical device sector is highly advantageous.
  • A strong background in launching new products globally and driving rapid market adoption.
