As the SVP, you will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and serve as a key member of the HR leadership team. You will be entrusted with the critical responsibility of ensuring our client’s total rewards programs are not only competitive but also cutting-edge, aligning with the dynamic and fast-paced nature of the technology industry. You will provide thought leadership and strategic direction on all aspects of compensation, including executive compensation, equity design, sales incentives, and broad-based pay structures. On the benefits side, you will oversee the entire portfolio of health, wellness, retirement, and ancillary benefits, ensuring they are scalable, compliant, and meaningful to a diverse, global workforce. Key Responsibilities of SVP, Global Compensation & Benefits with a Technology Co. – Seattle, WA
The SVP, Global Compensation & Benefits will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, including but not limited to:
Strategic Leadership & Vision
Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive global total rewards strategy that aligns with the company’s business objectives, talent strategy, and financial goals. Act as the primary advisor to the CHRO, CEO, and Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors on all compensation and benefits matters.
Executive Compensation
Lead the design, implementation, and administration of all executive compensation programs. This includes short-term and long-term incentives, deferred compensation, equity plans, and perquisites. Prepare materials and analysis for the Compensation Committee, ensuring programs are competitive, compliant, and support shareholder interests.
Global Compensation Programs
Oversee the design and management of all broad-based compensation programs worldwide, including base salary structures, variable pay plans, and sales incentive plans. Ensure pay equity and consistency in application across all regions while allowing for local market competitiveness.
Equity Strategy and Administration
Partner with Finance and Legal to manage the company’s equity programs (e.g., RSUs, stock options). Oversee strategy, grant guidelines, employee education, and administration to ensure equity remains a powerful tool for attraction and retention.
Benefits & Wellness Strategy
Design and direct the company’s global benefits strategy, including health and welfare plans, retirement programs (401k, etc.), and wellness initiatives. Continuously evaluate and evolve the benefits portfolio to meet the changing needs of employees and remain competitive in the tech landscape.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global team of compensation and benefits professionals. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, innovation, and data-driven decision-making within the team.
M&A and Global Expansion
Play a key leadership role in due diligence and integration activities for mergers and acquisitions. Provide expertise on harmonizing compensation and benefits programs and ensuring a smooth transition for acquired employees. Support the company’s global expansion by establishing rewards programs in new countries.
Compliance & Governance
Ensure all compensation and benefits programs are administered in compliance with global laws and regulations (e.g., FLSA, ERISA, pay equity laws). Maintain effective internal controls and governance processes.
Data Analytics & Technology
Leverage HRIS systems and data analytics to monitor the effectiveness of rewards programs, model potential changes, and provide insights to business leaders. Champion the use of technology to enhance the efficiency and employee experience of total rewards programs.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, strategic, and results-oriented leader with a proven track record of building and leading the total rewards function in a complex, global organization. Specific qualifications include:
Experience
A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in compensation and benefits, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role overseeing the total rewards function for a global public company.
Industry Background
Significant experience within the technology sector is highly preferred. A deep understanding of the unique talent and compensation challenges in a fast-growth, innovative environment is critical.
Executive Compensation Expertise
Extensive, hands-on experience designing and administering executive compensation programs and preparing materials for a public company’s Compensation Committee.
Global Acumen
Proven experience managing compensation and benefits programs across multiple international locations, with a strong understanding of global market practices, trends, and regulatory requirements.
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is highly desirable.
Certifications
Professional certifications such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) are strongly preferred.
Analytical & Financial Acumen
Exceptional analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills. Must be able to model complex financial scenarios and communicate data-driven recommendations effectively. Strong understanding of accounting and tax implications of compensation programs.
Leadership & Influence
Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a high-performing team. Must possess executive presence and the ability to build credibility and influence senior executives, the Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders.
