Role Overview for Operating Partner, Healthcare with a Growth Equity Firm – Raleigh, NC
The Operating Partner, Healthcare will serve as a strategic and operational leader, dedicated to maximizing the value of the firm’s healthcare portfolio companies. This is not a traditional consulting role; it is a hands-on, high-impact position that requires a blend of C-suite leadership experience, deep healthcare industry knowledge, and a private equity mindset. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, strategic growth, and transformational change across a diverse set of healthcare businesses, which may include healthcare IT, provider services, life sciences technology, and managed care.
Working closely with the deal team from the late stages of due diligence through to a successful exit, you will be the firm’s primary resource for operational strategy and execution. Your primary objective is to act as a trusted advisor and mentor to portfolio company CEOs and their management teams, helping them to navigate challenges, capitalize on opportunities, and achieve their full potential. Operational Due Diligence
Collaborate with the investment team to conduct thorough operational, commercial, and strategic due diligence on potential acquisitions. Identify key risks, opportunities for improvement, and potential synergies.
Value Creation Plan (VCP) Development
Lead the development of comprehensive 100-day plans and long-term VCPs for newly acquired portfolio companies. These plans will outline clear, actionable initiatives tied to specific financial and operational KPIs.
Portfolio Company Engagement
Act as a primary operational resource for portfolio companies. This includes serving on boards of directors, chairing specific committees, and providing hands-on support to management teams on an as-needed basis.
Performance Improvement

Requirements for the Operating Partner, Healthcare with a Growth Equity Firm – Raleigh, NC
Executive Leadership Experience
A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive professional experience, including a significant tenure in a C-level operating role (e.g., CEO, COO, President) within a successful, high-growth healthcare company.
Deep Industry Expertise
Verifiable, deep domain expertise in one or more sub-sectors of the healthcare industry, such as digital health, healthcare services, medical devices, or healthcare information technology.
Proven Value Creation Track Record
A demonstrated history of driving substantial and measurable value creation. Must be able to articulate specific examples of scaling businesses, driving revenue growth, expanding margins, and leading successful strategic initiatives.
Private Equity Acumen
Prior experience working directly for, or in close partnership with, a private equity or growth equity firm is strongly preferred. A thorough understanding of the private equity investment lifecycle is essential.
