Key Responsibilities of Head of Investor Relations with a Public Technology Co. – San Jose, CA
The Head of Investor Relations will own the IR function, from high-level strategy to detailed execution. Key responsibilities are broad and critical to the company’s success in the public markets:
Strategic Leadership & Program Development
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive, strategic investor relations program. This includes crafting the corporate investment narrative, defining key performance indicators (KPIs) for the IR function, and continually refining the strategy based on market feedback and company performance. You will be the key architect of how the company’s story is told to the financial world.
External Communication & Messaging
Serve as the primary point of contact for the investment community. Proactively manage relationships with institutional investors, sell-side analysts, and financial media. You will be responsible for preparing and distributing all key investor communications, including press releases for earnings, business updates, and other material announcements. This involves ensuring a consistent and compelling message is delivered across all platforms.
Quarterly Earnings Process Management
Lead the end-to-end quarterly earnings process. This includes drafting earnings releases, conference call scripts, Q&A documents, and presentations. You will work cross-functionally with finance, legal, and business unit leaders to gather information and ensure accuracy, and you will be responsible for preparing the executive team for the quarterly call and subsequent investor interactions.
Investor Engagement & Outreach
Organize and lead investor engagement activities, including non-deal roadshows, investor conferences, and one-on-one meetings. Develop and execute a targeted outreach strategy to attract and retain long-term, high-quality institutional investors. You will be the face of the company to the Street.
Market Intelligence & Feedback Loop
Monitor and analyze analyst reports, market trends, and investor sentiment. Provide the executive leadership team and the Board of Directors with timely and insightful feedback on the investment community’s perception of the company. Conduct in-depth competitive analysis and peer benchmarking to inform corporate strategy and messaging.
Collaboration with Internal Stakeholders
Foster strong relationships with internal teams, including Finance, Accounting, Legal, Corporate Communications, and Marketing. Ensure that all external communications are aligned and that the IR strategy supports broader corporate objectives. You will be a central hub of information and a key strategic partner to the C-suite.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure all investor communications and interactions are in strict compliance with securities laws and regulations, particularly Regulation Fair Disclosure (Reg FD). Work closely with the legal team to manage the company’s disclosure policies and practices.

We are looking for a candidate who combines deep financial expertise with exceptional communication skills and a strategic mindset. The qualifications for this critical role include:
Experience
A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in investor relations, corporate finance, equity research, or investment banking. A significant portion of this experience must be in-house at a publicly traded company, preferably within the technology sector (SaaS, hardware, or semiconductors).
Financial Acumen

Leadership & Interpersonal Skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels, from junior analysts to the CEO and Board of Directors. A collaborative, team-oriented approach is essential.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field is required. An MBA or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is highly preferred.
