Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, the Head of Digital Strategy will lead a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with executive peers across Brand, Sales, IT, and Operations. The Head of Digital Strategy will have a broad and impactful remit, encompassing the full spectrum of digital strategy and execution. Key responsibilities include:

Enterprise Digital Vision & Roadmap

Develop, articulate, and own the long-term, enterprise-wide digital strategy. Create a clear, multi-year roadmap that aligns digital initiatives with overarching business goals, ensuring digital is a core driver of revenue and brand equity.

E-commerce & DTC Acceleration

Architect the strategy for all digital commerce channels, including brand-owned Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) platforms, third-party marketplaces (e.g., Amazon, Walmart.com), and retailer.com partnerships. Own the e-commerce P&L and drive key metrics such as traffic, conversion rate, average order value (AOV), and customer lifetime value (CLV).

Full-Funnel Digital Marketing Excellence

Lead the center of excellence for all digital marketing disciplines. This includes setting the strategic direction for performance marketing (SEM/PPC, SEO, Paid Social, Display, Affiliate), CRM and loyalty programs, email marketing automation, and content strategy to engage consumers at every stage of their journey.

Consumer Experience (CX) Transformation

Champion a consumer-obsessed mindset by mapping and optimizing the end-to-end digital consumer journey. Leverage data and technology to deliver personalized, seamless, and engaging experiences across all digital touchpoints, from social media to post-purchase support.

Data, Analytics & Insights

Partner with the data science and analytics teams to establish a robust measurement framework and a single source of truth for consumer data. Translate complex data sets into actionable insights that inform strategy, optimize media spend, and uncover new growth opportunities. Foster a culture of rigorous testing, learning, and optimization.

Technology & Innovation Leadership

Constantly scan the horizon for emerging technologies (AI, MarTech, AdTech, AR/VR) and assess their potential to create value for the business. Build business cases for investment in new platforms and capabilities to future-proof the organization against shifting market dynamics and digital-first consumer expectations.

Cross-Functional Influence & Collaboration

Act as a key strategic partner to executive leadership and functional heads (Brand, Sales, IT, Supply Chain, Finance). Drive alignment and integration of digital thinking into all facets of the business, from product innovation to sales channel strategy.

Team Leadership & Development

Recruit, mentor, and lead a world-class team of digital strategists, marketers, and e-commerce specialists. Cultivate a high-performance, collaborative, and innovative team culture. Manage significant budgets, agency partnerships, and vendor relationships to maximize ROI.

Requirements for the Head of Digital Strategy, Enterprise with a Global CPG Co. – Cincinnati, OH

The ideal candidate is a seasoned digital leader with a proven track record of driving transformational change within a large, consumer-centric organization. We are seeking an individual with a unique blend of strategic acumen, technical depth, and inspirational leadership.

Experience

A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in digital strategy, digital marketing, and e-commerce. At least 7-10 years in a senior leadership capacity, managing large, multi-layered teams and significant budgets.

Industry Expertise

Deep experience within the CPG industry is strongly preferred. Candidates from adjacent industries with a strong focus on brand marketing and complex channel sales (e.g., consumer electronics, retail, beauty) will also be considered. Must understand the dynamics of working with major retailers and marketplaces.

Educational Background

Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.

Technical Acumen

Comprehensive understanding of the modern digital technology stack, including e-commerce platforms (e.g., Shopify Plus, Salesforce Commerce Cloud), CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud), analytics suites (e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics), and various MarTech/AdTech solutions.

Strategic & Analytical Mindset

Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate business objectives into tangible digital action plans. Exceptional analytical skills with a talent for using data to tell a story, persuade stakeholders, and make informed decisions.

Leadership & Influence

Proven experience leading through influence in a highly matrixed global organization. A collaborative leader who can build consensus, manage change, and inspire action across functions and geographies. Executive presence and the ability to communicate a compelling vision to the C-suite and Board of Directors.

Financial Acumen

Strong business and financial acumen, with experience managing a P&L, developing business cases, and demonstrating the financial impact of digital initiatives.

Location

The ability to be based in the Cincinnati, OH area is required. A hybrid work model may be available, but significant presence in the corporate headquarters is expected.
