The Director of Logistics will have a broad range of responsibilities, encompassing strategic planning, operational management, financial oversight, and team leadership. Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive logistics strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business goals and long-term vision.
  • Conduct regular market analysis to identify industry trends, competitive threats, and opportunities for innovation and growth.
  • Lead network design and optimization projects to enhance service levels, reduce costs, and improve supply chain resiliency.

  • Oversee all aspects of multi-site warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, inventory control, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Manage the entire transportation network, including carrier selection, contract negotiation, freight audit, and performance management for LTL, FTL, and parcel shipments.
  • Implement and monitor a robust set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance, such as on-time delivery, order accuracy, inventory turns, and cost-per-unit.
  • Ensure all operations comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including DOT, OSHA, and environmental standards.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency, quality, and safety across all logistics activities.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and other logistics technologies.

Financial Acumen & P&L Management

  • Assume full P&L responsibility for the logistics division, including budget creation, forecasting, variance analysis, and cost control.
  • Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality or safety.
  • Analyze financial and operational data to provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership for strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with the sales and account management teams to develop competitive pricing models and service-level agreements (SLAs) for new and existing clients.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of logistics managers and professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Establish clear goals and expectations for the team, conduct regular performance reviews, and create development plans to support career progression.
  • Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all team members are properly trained and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced leader with a proven track record of success in the 3PL industry. The ideal candidate will possess a unique blend of strategic vision, operational expertise, and inspirational leadership.

Required Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience

A minimum of 10-12 years of progressive experience in logistics and supply chain management, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership role (Director or equivalent).

Industry Expertise

Significant experience working within a Third-Party Logistics (3PL) environment is mandatory. Must have a deep understanding of multi-client warehousing and transportation operations.

Financial Skills

Proven experience managing a full P&L for a division or large department, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost management.

Leadership

Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop large, diverse teams across multiple sites. Experience in change management is highly desirable.

Technical Proficiency

Advanced proficiency with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS). Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and modeling.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Degree

An MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant field is highly preferred.

Certifications

Professional certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) from ASCM, Certified in Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD), or a Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black Belt are a significant plus.
