Key Responsibilities of Chief Operating Officer with a Wealth Management Platform – Atlanta, GA
Strategic Leadership & Execution
Partner directly with the CEO and the executive team to set and drive the company’s strategic priorities. Translate high-level strategy into a comprehensive operational roadmap with clear goals, metrics, and timelines. Oversee daily operations across all departments, including Client Services, Trading Operations, Compliance, Technology, and Human Resources, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
Operational Excellence & Scalability
Architect and implement a scalable operational framework to support rapid growth in client assets, user base, and product offerings. Continuously identify and eliminate inefficiencies by re-engineering processes, leveraging technology, and implementing best practices. Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across the organization to drive performance and ensure accountability.
Financial & Performance Management
In collaboration with the CFO, lead the annual budgeting and financial planning process. Manage the company’s P&L from an operational perspective, ensuring disciplined resource allocation and cost management. Champion a data-driven culture, utilizing analytics to inform decision-making and optimize performance across the business.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management
Serve as a key stakeholder in the company’s compliance framework. Ensure unwavering adherence to all relevant regulations and guidelines set forth by regulatory bodies. You will be expected to maintain a deep understanding of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) guidelines and SEC requirements. Develop and oversee a robust risk management program to identify, assess, and mitigate operational, financial, and regulatory risks.
Technology & Product Operations
Collaborate closely with the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to ensure the technology platform is secure, reliable, and scalable. Provide operational insight into the product development lifecycle, ensuring new features and services can be effectively supported and delivered to clients with excellence.
Team Leadership & Culture Development
Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse and growing team of professionals. Foster a high-performance culture that emphasizes collaboration, transparency, client-centricity, and continuous improvement. Champion professional development initiatives and build a strong leadership pipeline within the organization.
Client Experience & Service Delivery
Oversee the entire client lifecycle, from onboarding to ongoing support, ensuring a seamless and exceptional client experience. Implement systems and training programs to empower the client services team to deliver best-in-class support that serves as a key competitive differentiator.
Requirements for the Chief Operating Officer with a Wealth Management Platform – Atlanta, GA
Experience
A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience, with at least 5-7 years in a senior operational role (e.g., COO, General Manager, VP of Operations) within the financial services, wealth management, asset management, or fintech sectors.
Proven Scaling Expertise
Demonstrated success in scaling operations for a high-growth company. You must have a proven track record of building and optimizing processes and systems to support significant increases in revenue, headcount, and business complexity.
Industry Knowledge
Deep, functional knowledge of wealth management operations, including trading, clearing, settlement, custody, client onboarding (KYC/AML), and portfolio accounting. A strong understanding of the RIA (Registered Investment Advisor) or broker-dealer space is highly preferred.
Regulatory Acumen
Extensive experience navigating complex regulatory environments governed by the SEC and FINRA. A history of building and maintaining strong compliance cultures is essential.
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
