Global Procurement Strategy
Develop, champion, and execute a comprehensive global procurement strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business objectives, growth plans, and financial targets. This includes setting long-term goals for cost savings, supplier performance, risk mitigation, and sustainability.
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management
Lead global strategic sourcing initiatives across all spend categories. Implement sophisticated category management strategies to optimize cost, quality, and service levels for raw materials, packaging, ingredients, marketing services, IT, logistics, and other key areas.
Supplier Relationship Management (SRM)
Evolve the company’s approach to supplier management by cultivating robust, long-term strategic supplier partnerships. Establish a framework for supplier segmentation, performance measurement (KPIs), and joint business planning to drive innovation and mutual value.
Cost Optimization & Value Creation
Drive a disciplined approach to total cost of ownership (TCO). Identify and execute initiatives that deliver sustainable, year-over-year cost reductions and value improvements without compromising quality or service. Champion initiatives in value analysis and value engineering (VAVE).
Team Leadership & Talent Development
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global procurement organization. Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous learning. Attract and retain top-tier talent and build a strong succession pipeline for critical roles within the function.
Digital Transformation & Analytics
Spearhead the digital transformation of the procurement function. Champion the adoption and optimization of procurement technologies, including e-sourcing, procure-to-pay (P2P) systems, contract management, and advanced analytics platforms to enhance visibility, efficiency, and decision-making.
Risk Management & Supply Chain Resilience
Develop and implement a proactive global supply chain risk management program. Identify potential risks (geopolitical, financial, operational, environmental) and develop robust mitigation strategies to ensure business continuity and supply assurance.
Sustainability & ESG Integration
Embed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into the procurement strategy. Lead the development of a sustainable and responsible sourcing program, ensuring compliance with ethical standards and driving progress towards corporate sustainability goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as a key business partner to leaders in R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, Finance, and Legal. Ensure seamless collaboration to support new product introductions, optimize inventory levels, manage budgets, and align on strategic priorities.
Financial Acumen & Budget Management
Oversee the global procurement budget, providing accurate forecasting for commodity pricing, inflation, and savings. Present regular updates to the executive leadership team and Board of Directors on procurement performance and strategic initiatives.
Requirements for the Chief Global Procurement Officer with a Major CPG Company – Cincinnati, OH
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree is strongly preferred.
Executive Experience
A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive experience in procurement and strategic sourcing, with at least 7-10 years in a senior leadership capacity (VP, SVP, or CPO) overseeing a global team and significant spend.
Industry Expertise
Deep experience within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG), Food & Beverage, or a closely related manufacturing industry is essential. Must have a strong understanding of direct materials (commodities, ingredients, packaging) and indirect procurement.
Global Leadership
