Key Responsibilities of Chief Global Operations Officer – Los Angeles, CA

Strategic Leadership & Execution

Develop and implement a comprehensive global operations strategy that aligns with the company’s overall business objectives. Drive initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality and delivery.

Global Supply Chain Management

Oversee the end-to-end global supply chain, including strategic sourcing, procurement, demand and supply planning (S&OP), inventory management, and logistics. Build resilient and scalable supply chain networks to support market expansion and mitigate risks.

Manufacturing Excellence

Lead all global manufacturing sites, ensuring they operate at peak performance. Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to optimize production processes, increase yield, and ensure consistent product quality.

Quality Assurance & Regulatory Compliance

Champion a culture of quality throughout the organization. Ensure strict adherence to all relevant global regulatory standards, including FDA, ISO 13485, and other international requirements. Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure all operations are inspection-ready. Your team will be responsible for maintaining compliance with all aspects of the FDA’s Quality System (QS) Regulation.

Financial & Performance Management

Develop and manage the global operations budget, including capital expenditures. Establish, monitor, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive performance and accountability across all operational functions.

Team Leadership & Development

Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global operations team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Attract and retain top talent to build organizational capability for the future.

New Product Introduction (NPI)

Collaborate closely with R&D and Product Development teams to ensure seamless transition of new products from design to full-scale manufacturing. Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) initiatives to ensure product cost, quality, and scalability.

Global Facilities & EHS

Oversee the management of all global facilities, ensuring a safe, secure, and compliant working environment. Champion Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs and initiatives across all sites.

Technology & Systems Integration

Drive the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and systems (e.g., ERP, MES) to improve operational visibility, efficiency, and data-driven decision-making.

Risk Management

Identify and mitigate operational risks across the supply chain, manufacturing, and quality systems. Develop and implement robust business continuity and disaster recovery plans.

M&A Integration

Play a key role in due diligence and post-merger integration activities for any potential acquisitions, ensuring a smooth and effective integration of operational assets and teams.

Requirements for the Chief Global Operations Officer – Los Angeles, CA

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, with at least 7 years in a senior executive role (VP or higher) overseeing global operations.
  • Extensive experience within the medical device industry is mandatory. A deep understanding of Class II and/or Class III medical device manufacturing environments is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
  • Proven track record of managing multi-site, international manufacturing and supply chain operations.
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and scaling operations to support rapid company growth.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million dollar budgets and full P&L responsibility for operations.
  • In-depth knowledge of global regulatory environments, including FDA 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, and other international standards.
  • Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Total Quality Management. A certification (e.g., Black Belt) is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams across different cultures and geographies.
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively as a member of a senior executive team, contributing to broad, company-wide strategic decisions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An MBA or other advanced degree is highly preferred.
  • Experience with both sterile and non-sterile device manufacturing.
  • Experience managing both internal manufacturing and Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs).
  • Successful experience leading operations through M&A activities, including due diligence and integration.
  • Experience implementing and optimizing large-scale ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
