Key Responsibilities of SVP, Global HR with a Technology Hardware Co. – San Jose, CA

Executive & Strategic Leadership

Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, board of directors, and executive team. Develop and implement a comprehensive, forward-thinking global HR strategy that aligns with and accelerates the company’s strategic business objectives, long-range plans, and financial goals.

Organizational Design & Effectiveness

Lead organizational design initiatives to ensure the company structure is agile, scalable, and optimized for growth. Drive change management processes to support business transformations, including M&A integration, restructuring, and process improvements.

Talent Management & Succession Planning

Architect and oversee a holistic global talent management strategy. This includes building robust leadership development programs, creating a clear pipeline of future leaders, and implementing a rigorous succession planning process for critical roles across the organization.

Culture & Employee Engagement

Act as the primary champion and steward of the company’s culture. Develop and execute initiatives that foster a high-performance, inclusive, and innovative environment. Utilize employee feedback, surveys, and analytics to measure engagement and drive targeted improvements.

Talent Acquisition

Lead the global talent acquisition function to attract, assess, and hire top-tier, diverse talent in a highly competitive market. Innovate on sourcing strategies, employer branding, and candidate experience to position the company as an employer of choice.

Total Rewards Strategy

Design, implement, and manage a globally competitive total rewards strategy. This includes executive compensation, broad-based compensation, equity programs, benefits, and recognition programs that are aligned with company performance and effectively attract and retain key talent.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

Champion and advance the company’s DEI strategy. Partner with leaders across the organization to embed DEI principles into all people processes, including hiring, promotion, and development, fostering an environment where all employees can thrive.

HR Operations & Technology

Oversee the HR technology roadmap (HRIS, ATS, etc.) to drive efficiency, scalability, and a superior employee experience. Leverage people analytics and data to provide insights that inform business decisions and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.

Employee & Labor Relations

Provide expert counsel on all complex employee relations issues. Ensure the company maintains compliance with all international, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across all operating regions. Develop proactive and positive employee relations strategies.

Performance Management

Evolve the company’s performance management philosophy and systems to foster a culture of continuous feedback, accountability, and professional growth, moving beyond a simple annual review cycle to a more dynamic coaching and development model.

Requirements for the SVP, Global HR with a Technology Hardware Co. – San Jose, CA

Experience

A minimum of 15-20 years of progressive human resources experience, with at least 7 years in a senior executive role (VP or SVP) leading a global HR function for a company of significant scale and complexity.

Industry Background

Deep and demonstrable experience within the technology hardware, semiconductor, or related manufacturing industries is strongly preferred. Experience in a publicly-traded, high-growth global organization is essential.

Educational Background

A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field is required. An MBA or other relevant advanced degree (e.g., Master’s in HR, Organizational Development) is highly desirable.

Strategic Business Acumen

Proven ability to operate as a true business partner with a strong understanding of financial metrics and business operations. Must have a track record of implementing people strategies that drive tangible business outcomes.

Communication & Influence

Superb communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. The ability to influence and build credibility with stakeholders at all levels, from the board of directors to individual contributors.

M&A Experience

Prior experience leading the HR workstream for mergers and acquisitions, from due diligence through to successful post-merger integration, is a significant asset.

Modern HR Practices

Must be well-versed in modern HR principles and practices, including a deep understanding of strategic human resource management and its role in creating a competitive advantage.
