As the CISO, you will be the ultimate authority on information security for the entire organization. Key Responsibilities of CISO with a Global Technology Hardware Co. – San Jose, CA

The Chief Information Security Officer will have a broad and impactful mandate. Key responsibilities are comprehensive and span strategic, operational, and leadership domains:

Strategic Vision and Program Development

Develop, implement, and continuously refine a strategic, comprehensive enterprise information security and risk management program that is aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements. Create and maintain the enterprise security roadmap, defining long-term goals and tactical execution plans.

Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC)

Establish and chair the information security governance committee. Author and enforce enterprise-wide security policies, standards, and procedures. Lead comprehensive risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and security audits to identify and mitigate risks across IT, OT, and product ecosystems. Ensure and demonstrate compliance with global regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, SOX, and industry-specific standards.

Security Operations and Incident Response

Oversee the 24/7/365 Security Operations Center (SOC). Lead the enhancement of threat intelligence, threat hunting, and security monitoring capabilities. Mature the company’s incident response plan and act as the commander during major security incidents, from detection and containment to eradication and recovery. Manage digital forensics and post-mortem analyses to prevent future occurrences.

Security Architecture and Engineering

Direct the security architecture function to ensure that security is designed into all new systems, applications, and services from the ground up. Champion a DevSecOps culture within engineering teams. Evaluate, select, and deploy state-of-the-art security technologies, including solutions for cloud security (AWS, Azure, GCP), endpoint detection and response (EDR), identity and access management (IAM), and data loss prevention (DLP).

Product and Supply Chain Security

Partner closely with product development and engineering leaders to integrate robust security measures throughout the entire product lifecycle (SDLC), from silicon design to software deployment. Develop and implement a comprehensive program to assess and mitigate security risks within the company’s complex global supply chain.

Leadership, Budget, and Communication

Build, mentor, and lead a world-class, globally distributed team of security professionals. Develop and manage the multi-million dollar information security budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources. Serve as the primary security advisor to the Board of Directors and the executive leadership team, effectively translating complex technical risks into clear business implications and strategic recommendations.

Security Awareness and Culture

Drive a comprehensive security awareness and training program to foster a culture of shared responsibility for security across the entire organization. Act as the company’s chief security evangelist, promoting best practices and secure behaviors at all levels.

Requirements for the CISO with a Global Technology Hardware Co. – San Jose, CA

The ideal candidate is a seasoned and pragmatic security leader with a proven track record of protecting large, complex, and innovative global enterprises. Specific qualifications include:

Executive Experience

A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in information security, with at least 8 years in a senior leadership capacity (e.g., VP of Security, Deputy CISO, CISO) for a publicly-traded, global organization with revenues exceeding $5 billion.

Industry Expertise

Direct experience within the semiconductor, hardware manufacturing, consumer electronics, or a related high-technology sector is strongly preferred. Educational Background
