Go-to-Market (GTM) Collaboration
Partner closely with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success leadership to develop and execute effective go-to-market strategies. Ensure product positioning, pricing, and packaging are optimized for target segments. Serve as a key evangelist for the product, both internally and externally, at industry events, with analysts, and with key customers.
Market & Competitive Intelligence
Be the company’s foremost expert on the cybersecurity market, threat landscape, customer needs, and competitive environment. Conduct continuous analysis to identify market trends, new opportunities, and potential threats to the business. Translate these insights into actionable product strategies.
Cross-Functional Leadership
Act as a key member of the executive team, contributing to the overall strategic direction of the company. Champion the product vision across all departments, ensuring alignment and fostering strong, collaborative relationships with Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Finance.
Data-Driven Decision Making
Implement and champion a data-informed product culture. Utilize product analytics, user feedback, A/B testing, and market data to make informed decisions and guide the product roadmap. Define and monitor key product metrics (KPIs) to track success and drive improvements.
Customer Advocacy
Build deep relationships with key customers and partners to gather insights and feedback. Act as the primary advocate for the customer within the organization, ensuring their voice is central to all product development efforts.
Requirements for the Chief Product Officer with a Cybersecurity Vendor – Washington, DC
We are seeking a candidate with a distinguished career in product leadership, specifically within the complex and fast-paced cybersecurity industry. The required qualifications are a blend of deep domain expertise, proven leadership capabilities, and strategic business insight.
Executive Experience
A minimum of 15+ years of experience in product management, with at least 7-10 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., VP of Product, Head of Product, CPO) for a B2B technology company.
Cybersecurity Domain Expertise
Deep and demonstrable expertise in the cybersecurity space is mandatory. Experience with one or more of the following is highly preferred: Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Cloud Security (CWPP/CSPM), Threat Intelligence, or Network Security.
Proven Scaling Success
A track record of successfully scaling a product organization and portfolio in a high-growth environment. Experience taking a product from early-stage to market leadership is a significant plus.
Technical Acumen
Strong technical background, ideally with a BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Must be comfortable engaging in deep technical discussions with engineering teams and understanding complex architectures.
Business & Strategic Skills
An MBA or equivalent business experience is highly desirable. Must possess exceptional strategic thinking, analytical, and financial modeling skills. Experience with pricing, packaging, and M&A evaluation is preferred.
Leadership & Communication
World-class leadership and communication skills. Proven ability to inspire and lead teams, communicate a compelling vision, and build consensus across an organization. Exceptional presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex concepts to a variety of audiences, from engineers to board members.
Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge
Familiarity with key industry standards and regulatory frameworks is essential for guiding product development that meets customer compliance needs. A strong understanding of frameworks such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ISO 27001, and SOC 2 is required.
Location
Ability to work from the Washington, DC office on a hybrid basis is strongly preferred. Proximity to key government clients and federal agencies is a strategic advantage for this role.
