As the VP of Global IT Infrastructure, you will be the strategic mind and operational leader responsible for the entire global technology infrastructure. This includes all data centers, cloud environments, global networks, unified communications, and end-user computing services. Key Responsibilities of VP, Global IT Infrastructure with a Consumer Electronics Co. – San Jose, CA
The VP of Global IT Infrastructure will have a broad and impactful scope of responsibilities, encompassing strategic leadership, operational excellence, team development, and financial stewardship.
Strategic Vision and Technology Roadmap
Develop and implement a comprehensive, forward-looking global infrastructure strategy. This includes leading the charge on cloud migration, data center consolidation, network modernization, and the adoption of automation and AI-driven operations. You will be expected to present your vision and business case to the executive board and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and financial targets.
Global Infrastructure Management
Assume ultimate responsibility for the architecture, engineering, and 24/7/365 operation of all IT infrastructure. This includes a complex hybrid cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP), on-premise data centers, global WAN/LAN/WLAN, voice and video conferencing systems, and storage and backup solutions. You will ensure the highest levels of availability, performance, and security across all services.
Operational Excellence and Service Delivery
Champion a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. You will be responsible for implementing and refining operational frameworks based on ITIL best practices to ensure seamless service delivery. This includes establishing and managing Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs), overseeing the Network Operations Center (NOC), and ensuring robust incident, problem, and change management processes are in place.
Cybersecurity and Compliance
Partner closely with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to design and implement a secure infrastructure. You will be responsible for the infrastructure components of the security program, including network security (firewalls, IDS/IPS), endpoint protection, identity and access management, and vulnerability management. You will ensure that all infrastructure complies with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).
Team Leadership and Development
Lead, mentor, and inspire a global team of talented infrastructure engineers, architects, and managers located across North America, Europe, and Asia. Foster a collaborative, high-performance, and inclusive culture. Develop career paths, provide coaching and mentorship, and build a succession plan for key roles within your organization.
Financial Management and Vendor Relations
Develop and manage the annual multi-million dollar operating (OpEx) and capital (CapEx) budgets for the global infrastructure department. Drive cost-optimization initiatives, including cloud FinOps and strategic sourcing. Manage key vendor relationships and contract negotiations to ensure maximum value and performance for the organization.
Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
Own and maintain the company’s IT Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP). Conduct regular testing and drills to ensure the organization is prepared to respond to and recover from any major disruption, safeguarding critical business operations.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, strategic, and hands-on leader with a proven track record of managing large-scale, global IT infrastructure in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Educational Background
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is required. A Master’s degree or MBA is highly preferred.
Executive Leadership Experience
A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, with at least 7-10 years in a senior leadership capacity (Director or VP level) managing a global team.
Industry Experience
Experience in the consumer electronics, high-tech manufacturing, or a related fast-paced industry with complex global supply chains is strongly preferred. Proven experience managing infrastructure at scale for a global organization with revenues exceeding $1B is essential.
Technical Acumen
Deep and broad technical expertise across a wide range of infrastructure technologies, including:
- Cloud Computing: Extensive experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including migration, architecture, and cost management.
Networking
Advanced knowledge of modern networking principles and technologies, including SD-WAN, Zero Trust architecture, global load balancing, and network security.
Data Center & Systems
Expertise in virtualization (VMware), hyper-converged infrastructure (Nutanix), enterprise storage solutions, and server operating systems (Linux, Windows Server).
Automation & DevOps
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Terraform, Ansible), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
Leadership and Communication Skills
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to articulate a clear vision, influence senior executives, and build consensus across disparate teams and cultures is paramount. You must be a strong negotiator and be able to manage conflict effectively.
Business and Financial Acumen
Strong understanding of business principles and demonstrated ability to manage large, complex budgets. Must be able to translate technical concepts into business value and outcomes.
