Technology Vision and Strategic Roadmap

Research & Development Leadership

Product Development Lifecycle Management

Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation, feasibility, and design to verification, validation, and market launch. Regulatory Compliance and Quality Assurance

Champion a culture of quality and compliance across the entire technology organization. Technical Architecture and Infrastructure

Cybersecurity and Data Privacy

Develop and implement a robust cybersecurity strategy to protect the company’s intellectual property and sensitive patient data, particularly for connected devices. Ensure all products are designed with security and privacy-by-design principles.

Budget and Financial Oversight

Develop and manage the annual technology budget, making strategic investment decisions to maximize ROI. Provide transparent reporting on technology expenditures, project status, and performance metrics to the executive team and board of directors.

Intellectual Property Strategy

In collaboration with legal counsel, drive the company’s intellectual property strategy. Identify patentable inventions, oversee the patent application process, and protect the company’s technological trade secrets.

Cross-Functional Executive Collaboration

Requirements for the Chief Technology Officer – Philadelphia, PA

We are seeking a seasoned and accomplished leader with a proven track record of success within the medical device or a related regulated industry. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

Educational Background

An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related technical field is strongly preferred.

Executive Leadership Experience

A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in technology roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position (e.g., CTO, VP of Engineering, Head of R&D) within the medical device, MedTech, or life sciences industry.

Medical Device Expertise

Demonstrable experience leading the development of complex medical devices, including both hardware and software components (Software as a Medical Device – SaMD). A proven track record of successfully taking products through the full development lifecycle from concept to FDA clearance/approval (510(k), PMA) and commercial launch is essential.

Regulatory Acumen

Deep, hands-on knowledge of the global regulatory landscape for medical devices, including FDA QSR, ISO 13485, IEC 62304 (software lifecycle), and risk management (ISO 14971).

Technical Proficiency

Broad and deep technical knowledge across multiple domains, including embedded systems, cloud architecture (AWS, Azure), mobile application development, data analytics, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and cybersecurity best practices for connected devices.

Strategic and Business Acumen

Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into a clear technology roadmap. Strong financial literacy with experience managing significant budgets and technology investments.

Leadership and Communication Skills
