Key Responsibilities of VP of Finance (CPG Start-up) – Los Angeles, CA
Strategic Financial Leadership & Planning
Develop and execute comprehensive financial strategies that align with the company’s long-term vision and growth objectives. Provide critical financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and Board of Directors regarding business expansion, market entry, product development, and overall strategic initiatives. Lead the annual budgeting process, quarterly forecasting, and long-range financial planning, ensuring accuracy and strategic alignment.
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
Oversee all FP&A activities, including detailed financial modeling, scenario planning, variance analysis, and performance reporting. Develop and monitor key financial and operational KPIs to track business performance, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to drive informed decision-making across all departments (marketing, sales, operations, R&D).
Fundraising & Investor Relations
Play a leading role in all capital-raising efforts, including preparing investor decks, financial projections, and due diligence materials. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential investors, venture capitalists, and private equity firms. Effectively communicate the company’s financial narrative, growth potential, and strategic value.
Accounting & Financial Operations Oversight
Manage and oversee all aspects of the accounting function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This includes general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets. Implement and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
Cash & Treasury Management
Develop and implement effective cash management strategies to optimize working capital, liquidity, and capital allocation. Evaluate and mitigate financial risks, including foreign exchange and interest rate exposures.
Business Partnering & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Act as a trusted financial advisor to cross-functional teams, providing financial expertise and support for operational decisions, pricing strategies, supply chain optimization, and new product launches. Foster a strong partnership with sales, marketing, and operations to drive profitable growth and improve efficiency.
Compliance, Tax & Risk Management

Requirements for the VP of Finance (CPG Start-up) – Los Angeles, CA
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field from an accredited institution. An MBA and/or CPA certification is highly preferred and will be a significant advantage.
Experience
A minimum of 12-15 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership position (e.g., Head of Finance, Director of Finance, Controller, or VP of Finance).
Industry Expertise
Demonstrated extensive experience within the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry is absolutely critical. Prior experience in a high-growth start-up or venture-backed environment is highly desirable, showcasing an ability to operate with agility and resourcefulness.
