Key Responsibilities of VP, Global Supply Chain Optimization with a CPG Co. – Cincinnati, OH
As the VP, Global Supply Chain Optimization, you will be entrusted with a broad and impactful portfolio of responsibilities. Your primary focus will be on strategic oversight and continuous improvement across all facets of the global supply chain. This includes, but is not limited to:
Strategic Leadership & Global Vision
- Develop, articulate, and execute a comprehensive, multi-year global supply chain strategy that aligns seamlessly with the company’s overarching business objectives and long-range growth plans.
- Lead the design and optimization of the global supply chain network, including manufacturing footprints, distribution center locations, and transportation lanes, to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
- Champion and spearhead digital transformation initiatives, evaluating and implementing advanced technologies such as AI, machine learning, IoT, blockchain, and robotic process automation to create a predictive and autonomous supply chain.
- Serve as the executive sponsor for sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) initiatives within the supply chain, driving programs to reduce carbon footprint, minimize waste, and ensure ethical sourcing practices.
Operational Excellence & Process Optimization
- Lead the global Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring tight integration between commercial forecasts, production capacity, and inventory strategies to improve forecast accuracy and product availability.
- Instill a culture of continuous improvement by deploying methodologies such as Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) across all supply chain functions.
- Architect and implement sophisticated inventory optimization strategies, including multi-echelon inventory planning, to balance service levels with working capital efficiency across a diverse product portfolio.
- Oversee global logistics, warehousing, and transportation functions, driving network optimization, carrier management excellence, and the implementation of advanced Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- Develop and maintain a robust supply chain risk management framework to identify, assess, and mitigate potential disruptions from geopolitical events, natural disasters, supplier failures, and market volatility.
Financial Acumen & Performance Management
- Assume full P&L responsibility for the global supply chain organization, developing and managing annual budgets, capital expenditure plans, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Drive a rigorous cost-to-serve analysis to identify opportunities for efficiency gains and margin improvement across different channels and customer segments.
- Establish, monitor, and report on a balanced scorecard of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) covering service, cost, quality, and safety. Present performance updates and strategic recommendations to the executive leadership team and Board of Directors.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead, inspire, and mentor a large, geographically dispersed team of supply chain professionals, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture.
- Attract, retain, and develop top-tier supply chain talent, building a strong leadership pipeline through targeted coaching, development programs, and succession planning.
- Champion change management efforts associated with new strategies, processes, and technologies, ensuring smooth transitions and high levels of employee adoption and engagement.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned and strategic supply chain executive with a passion for innovation and a relentless drive for results. We are seeking an individual who combines deep functional expertise with exceptional leadership capabilities and business acumen.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is required. An MBA or other advanced degree (e.g., Master’s in Supply Chain Management) is strongly preferred.
Experience
A minimum of 15+ years of progressive leadership experience within the supply chain function, with at least 7 years in a senior executive capacity (e.g., VP, Senior Director) overseeing a global, end-to-end supply chain.
Industry Expertise
Demonstrable and deep experience within the Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry is a non-negotiable requirement. Experience with food & beverage, personal care, or household goods is highly advantageous.
Transformational Leadership
Proven track record of successfully leading large-scale supply chain transformation projects, including network redesign, process re-engineering, and technology implementation, resulting in measurable improvements in cost, service, and efficiency.
Technical & Analytical Skills
In-depth knowledge of modern supply chain concepts and systems. Expertise with Tier 1 ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is essential. Strong command of data analytics, business intelligence tools, and predictive modeling techniques to drive data-informed decision-making.
Strategic Mindset
Ability to think strategically and holistically, translating broad corporate strategies into clear, actionable supply chain initiatives. Capable of balancing short-term tactical needs with long-term strategic goals.
