Key Responsibilities of Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer with a Global InsurTech – Chicago, IL

AI Vision and Strategy

Develop, articulate, and execute a clear and compelling enterprise-wide AI strategy and roadmap that aligns with and drives core business objectives. Identify and prioritize key business challenges and opportunities where AI, machine learning, and data science can deliver significant impact.

Leadership and Team Development

Recruit, lead, and mentor a world-class team of data scientists, machine learning engineers, AI researchers, and data engineers. Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performance culture that attracts and retains top talent in the field.

Model Development and Deployment

Oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of AI/ML models, from ideation and data acquisition to model development, validation, deployment, and ongoing monitoring. Ensure the implementation of best practices in MLOps for scalable and efficient model management.

Technology and Infrastructure Oversight

Lead the evaluation and selection of AI technologies, platforms, and tools. Collaborate with the CTO and infrastructure teams to build and maintain a robust, scalable, and secure technology stack capable of supporting advanced AI and big data initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as a key partner to leaders across all business units, including Underwriting, Claims, Product, Marketing, and Operations. Governance, Ethics, and Compliance

Establish and enforce a comprehensive AI governance framework. Champion the ethical and responsible use of AI, ensuring fairness, transparency, and accountability in all models. Ensure compliance with all relevant data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards.

Innovation and Research

Stay at the forefront of advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and related fields. Drive a research and development agenda that explores emerging technologies and their potential application within the insurance landscape. Promote a culture of experimentation and learning.

Financial and Performance Management

Develop and manage the AI department’s budget. Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the ROI and business impact of all AI initiatives, reporting progress regularly to the executive team and board of directors.

Requirements for the Chief Artificial Intelligence Officer with a Global InsurTech – Chicago, IL

Educational Background

An advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master’s) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Statistics, or a closely related quantitative field is required.

Executive Leadership Experience

Strategic and Business Acumen
