Key Responsibilities of CFO, Portfolio Company with a PE-backed Media Group – Miami, FL

  • Strategic Financial Leadership & Planning: Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and executive leadership team. Develop and execute a long-term financial strategy that aligns with the company’s growth objectives and the PE sponsor’s investment thesis. Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning processes, providing rigorous financial models and analysis to support strategic initiatives.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Execution: Play a central role in the company’s inorganic growth strategy. Lead the financial due diligence process for potential acquisition targets, build complex valuation models, and assess financial risks and opportunities. Oversee the seamless financial integration of acquired companies, ensuring alignment of systems, processes, and reporting to realize synergies and drive value.
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Build and lead a world-class FP&A function that provides timely, accurate, and insightful analysis of business performance. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress against strategic goals. Prepare comprehensive management reports and board presentations that highlight trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Capital Structure & Treasury Management: Manage the company’s capital structure to support growth while optimizing cost of capital. Oversee all treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting, working capital management, and banking relationships. Ensure compliance with all debt covenants and manage lender relationships effectively.
  • Investor Relations & Board Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for the private equity sponsors on all financial matters. Oversee the preparation of all investor reporting packages, including monthly and quarterly financial statements and performance dashboards. Prepare and present financial results and strategic updates to the Board of Directors.
  • Accounting, Control & Compliance: Oversee all accounting operations, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the company’s financial records. Guarantee timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Implement and maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Manage the annual external audit process.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-caliber finance and accounting team. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Provide strong leadership and guidance, empowering the team to support the company’s rapid growth and evolving needs.
  • Systems & Process Optimization: Evaluate and enhance financial systems (ERP, BI tools, etc.) and processes to improve efficiency, scalability, and the quality of financial data. Lead initiatives to leverage technology and automation to streamline financial operations and provide better business intelligence to the organization.

Requirements for the CFO, Portfolio Company with a PE-backed Media Group – Miami, FL

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field is required. An MBA and/or CPA designation is strongly preferred.
  • Executive Experience: A minimum of 15 years of progressive financial experience, with at least 5-7 years in a senior leadership role (CFO, VP of Finance, or equivalent) for a company of comparable size and complexity.
  • Private Equity Expertise: Demonstrable and significant experience serving as a senior financial executive in a private equity-backed portfolio company is a mandatory requirement. Must have a deep understanding of the PE lifecycle, including leveraged buyouts (LBOs), debt financing, and exit strategies.
  • M&A Track Record: Proven, hands-on experience leading the financial aspects of multiple M&A transactions, from initial diligence and valuation through to successful post-merger integration.
  • Industry Relevance: Experience in the media, digital marketing, technology, or a related recurring revenue service industry is highly desirable. Familiarity with industry-specific metrics and business models is a significant plus.
  • Technical Acumen: Exceptional financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills. Deep expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls. Proficiency with modern ERP systems and business intelligence tools.
  • Leadership & Communication: Outstanding leadership and team-building skills with a proven ability to attract, develop, and retain top talent. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Strategic & Operational Mindset: Must be a strategic thinker who can see the big picture while also being a hands-on operator willing to dig into the details. A proactive, results-driven individual with a strong sense of urgency and a bias for action.
