Key Responsibilities of VP, Corporate FP&A with a Public Technology Co. – Seattle, WA
Strategic Financial Leadership
Partner with the CFO and executive leadership to develop and execute the company’s long-range strategic and financial plans. Develop sophisticated financial models to support M&A evaluation, capital structure decisions, and other strategic corporate development initiatives.
Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting
Lead the end-to-end global financial planning processes, including the annual operating plan (AOP), quarterly forecasts, and monthly performance reviews. Ensure accuracy, predictability, and alignment with corporate strategy. Drive a cadence of accountability across the organization.
Performance Analysis and Reporting
Oversee the preparation of comprehensive management reporting packages for the executive team and Board of Directors. Develop, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and business drivers, providing insightful variance analysis and actionable recommendations to improve performance.
Business Partnership
Serve as a trusted financial advisor to senior leaders across all departments, including Engineering, Sales, Marketing, and Operations. Provide data-driven insights to support resource allocation, investment decisions, and operational efficiency improvements.
Team Leadership and Development
Build, lead, and mentor a world-class corporate FP&A team. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth. Set clear goals and expectations, and provide regular coaching and feedback.
Investor Relations and External Reporting Support
Collaborate closely with the Investor Relations team to prepare materials for quarterly earnings calls, investor conferences, and shareholder communications. Ensure financial narratives are consistent, accurate, and effectively communicated to the investment community. Support SEC reporting processes as needed.
Systems and Process Improvement
Drive the continuous improvement and automation of FP&A processes, systems, and tools to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Champion the adoption of best practices in financial planning and analysis to support the company’s growth.
Capital Allocation and Cash Flow Management
Develop robust models for cash flow forecasting and play a key role in capital allocation strategy, ensuring investments are aligned with strategic priorities and deliver strong returns.
Requirements for the VP, Corporate FP&A with a Public Technology Co. – Seattle, WA
Educational Background
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field is required. An MBA from a top-tier institution and/or a CPA designation is highly preferred.
Professional Experience
A minimum of 15+ years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 8 years in a senior FP&A leadership role. Significant experience within a publicly-traded technology, SaaS, or software company is essential.
Public Company Expertise
Deep understanding of the financial and operational intricacies of a public company, including experience supporting investor relations, quarterly earnings cycles, and board-level presentations.
Leadership and Management
Proven track record of successfully leading, managing, and developing high-performing finance teams. Demonstrated ability to inspire and motivate a team in a dynamic, results-oriented environment.
Technical and Analytical Skills
Expert-level financial modeling and valuation skills are mandatory. High proficiency with enterprise-level ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP) and advanced experience with EPM/BI tools (e.g., Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Tableau, Power BI).
Strategic Mindset
Ability to think strategically and see the ‘big picture,’ while also possessing a strong command of the details. Must be able to translate complex financial concepts into clear, concise, and actionable insights for both financial and non-financial audiences.
Communication and Influence
Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to build strong relationships and influence senior executives and stakeholders across the organization is critical. Must possess executive presence and credibility.
Business Acumen
Strong understanding of SaaS business models and metrics (e.g., ARR, LTV, CAC, Churn). Proven ability to act as a true business partner and contribute to strategic discussions beyond the finance function.
