Product Vision and Strategy

Develop, articulate, and champion a clear and compelling long-term product vision and strategy that aligns with the company’s overall mission and business objectives. Create and maintain a multi-year product roadmap that prioritizes initiatives to drive market leadership, customer value, and revenue growth.

Market and Customer Intelligence

Serve as the company’s foremost expert on the customer, the market, and the competition. Conduct continuous market research, competitive analysis, and customer interviews to identify unmet needs, emerging trends, and strategic opportunities within the cybersecurity landscape.

Team Leadership and Development

Lead, mentor, and scale a world-class product organization. Recruit, hire, and develop top-tier talent in product management and design. Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture that values innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Product Lifecycle Management

Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and discovery to development, launch, and iteration. Implement and refine product management processes to ensure efficient execution and high-quality outcomes. Work closely with engineering to manage trade-offs and deliver on the roadmap.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Build strong, collaborative relationships with leaders across Engineering, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, and Finance. Ensure seamless communication and alignment on product strategy, roadmap priorities, and go-to-market plans. Act as the primary product evangelist both internally and externally.

Go-to-Market (GTM) Strategy

Partner with the Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Revenue Officer to develop and execute effective GTM strategies. Define product positioning, messaging, and pricing to ensure successful product launches and market adoption. Equip the sales and marketing teams with the knowledge and tools they need to succeed.

Data-Driven Decision Making

Define and analyze key product metrics and KPIs to measure the success of product initiatives. Utilize quantitative and qualitative data to inform product decisions, validate hypotheses, and drive continuous optimization of the user experience and business outcomes.

Executive Leadership and Communication

As a member of the executive team, contribute to the overall strategic direction of the company. Regularly present product strategy, roadmap updates, and performance metrics to the CEO, executive team, and Board of Directors.

Requirements for the Chief Product Officer with a Cybersecurity Software Co. – Austin, TX

Executive Experience

A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in product management, with at least 7 years in a senior leadership capacity (e.g., VP of Product, Head of Product) for a B2B SaaS company.

Cybersecurity Domain Expertise

Deep and demonstrable experience within the cybersecurity industry is essential. You must possess a strong understanding of core security concepts, market segments (e.g., endpoint security, cloud security, identity and access management, threat intelligence), and the evolving threat landscape.

Exceptional business judgment with a deep understanding of P&L management, product pricing, packaging, and go-to-market strategies. An MBA is considered a strong asset.

Communication and Influence

World-class communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. The ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively to a variety of audiences, from engineers to board members.

Location
